I was hoping for Otis Berg.Just a nerdy fanboy note: Luthor's henchman Otis was of course created for Richard Donner's 1978 Superman film, where he was not given a last name. The Supergirl TV series introduced a version of Otis in its fourth season, where he was revealed to be Otis Graves, brother to famous Lex Luthor henchwoman/bodyguard Mercy. I had thought the Graves appellation might stick for subsequent versions of the Otis character, but apparently not; per his prison uniform, S&L's version is named Otis Grisham.
I can't be the only one that sees "human Thanos" every time they see Lex.![]()
I thought this season wasn’t going to end on a big cliffhanger
Was mentioned that it was going to have a cliff hanger a few weeks back and people were concerned because the renewal for S4 hadn't been confirmed at the time.
So with the budget being decimated, does 4x01 begin with a time jump and an off hand remark to defeating Doomsday?
Could be fun. Get a black-suit wearing Clark slowly regaining his abilities over the season.
On the other hand, if the Lex Luthor plot was entirely a red herring and he really was just eaten alive by Bizarro, that'd certainly play to type with this series.
Well, I take it back, it turns out the thing in the mines in the suit really was Doomsday all along, the behind-the-scenes statements at the beginning of season two weren't lying to us, just playing with us.
I do have to wonder about exactly how far back the cast cuts were decided on, since there did seem to be elements paving the way for them here. Judging by how the episode went, it would've been relatively easy to edit out anything with Sam after he was kidnapped once Walsh decided not to return for season 4, so they can say Luthor killed him off-screen. Setting up to reduce the Ironses to recurring was probably something they were thinking about doing anyway, judging by them mooting moving to Metropolis. In any case, it's possible (maybe even "apparent") the episode was written and filmed with some amount of flexibility involved, depending on how things went with the renewal.
I am still thinking this version of Luthor is just a bit much.
I'm just going to leave this here:With them fighting on the moon maybe have it be the fight ends up on the 'dark side' of the moon and Superman unable to draw any more light from the sun falls into a deep comatose state and then at some point a mission to the moon discovers him.
