Spoilers "Superman & Lois" Season 2

I just want the soap opera narrator, "The part of Jonathan Kent is being played by ... ".

I'd rather they just went for it and didn't, to pick an entirely arbitrary example, have him be in a disfiguring plane crash requiring radical reconstructive surgery.

When Black Lightning recast the Pierces' younger daughter Jen, they justified it by having her disintegrate and reintegrate with epigenetic differences in gene expression, so that she looked different while still being genetically the same. I found that very clever, although it turned out that the reality was something different.

It would be kind of repetitive for S&L to go to that same well, though, and have to deal with Jonathan having to pretend to be someone else or try to explain his changed appearance to his classmates and the community. It's probably simpler just to recast and pretend he looks the same.

That's a shame about Jordan Elass, but I hope he can get whatever help he need.
I wonder if they'll address his change in appearance or just pretend nothing has changed?
So I've been doing a Smallville rewatch. Tonight's episode was the ninth-season episode, "Pandora," in which Lois finds herself on a devastated future Earth under a red Sun. Check out this shot:

I am virtually certain this memorable shot from the S&L season finale must have been a direct and deliberate homage:

Pretty cool, right? :techman:
I'm not seeing your Smallville picture.

Didn’t Batwoman do that?
Pretty much, although it was a lot more complicated than that.

I wasn’t aware there was a cast change in Black Lightning. Looks like it was right at the end though. Haven’t got there yet

A simple recast without explanations. None are needed. Granted the boys are fraternal twins but I hope the showrunners find someone who bears a closer family resemblance to Clark and Lois. Maybe a latent superpower or two; his pop has got plenty to choose from.

Funny -- I see Elsass as the one with the greater resemblance, except for his hair. Indeed, there were times last season that I was struck by how similar the two brothers looked in certain ways, despite the superficial differences. They both have eyes that are convincingly Superman-like.

It's strange, but I was unable to finish Season 2. It's not that I believe it was bad. I simply lost interest, just as I had lost interest in "The Flash" and "Batwoman".

Batwoman lost its entire focus with the tumultuous departure of Ruby Rose, thus losing the focus of the series. That, and the utter disrespect of black viewers with their offensive, highly ignorant storylines involving Luke was more than enough to be glad the series was cancelled. Superman and Lois' quality suffered a significant drop in its 2nd season--usually a point when series find their footing. Its just the opposite with the show, with it being more Spelling young adult drama than anything resembling a Superman (or Superman-related) series.

With Elsass leaving the series, it seems as if its just a sign of more cracking foundations to come. This is not like the temporary departure of China Anne McClain from Black Lightning, which had a very strong show to carry it forward (thanks to Berlanti & his usual team having no creative involvement in the Scott / Akils-controlled & shaped series). Superman and Lois--like Batwoman lost whatever it had in its debut season and trampled it with creatively challenged, uninteresting plots intended to be "big".
