News Superman & Lois Ordered to Series at The CW

As others have said, it's not all that surprising. It's not like there's been no Superman on TV for the last few years - In fact it's exactly the opposite in that since Supergirl season 2, The CW Arrowverse version of Superman has appeared at least once or twice a season.

Also, if you're talking fans who aren't already following the Arrowverse; The DCEU feature film version of Superman didn't pack general audiences in either.

My point? If people were suddenly expecting a general audience to tune into a CW version of Superman in huge numbers; given the recent media history of Superman - that was probably an unrealistic expectation.

Yes I know that the CW is trying to promote this as a 'different' Arrowverse series; but again, aside from the fans that are already following all the Arrowverse shows; the general public have seen a lot of Superman media and film projects over the past decade so there's really nothing all that "new" here.

But actually I think the folks at Warner Bros are aware of this because if you check your schedules the pilot is also airing on TNT this weekend; so they are trying to get it in front of as many eyes as possible across multiple cable TV outlets and their own CWstreaming service <--- and I'm sure they're factoring the results of all that as they consider how to move forward with this series and whether to renew it for a second season.

Yes I know Superman was "first superhero"; but 80 years later - we're now in media age with a variety of superhero projects to view and choose from.

So yeah just saying: "But it's SUPERMAN!"

Isn't just going to put butts in seats these days, sorry. And believe it or not I believe even Warner Bros. finally realizes this; but they still feel confident enough to give the character go on TV and see what happens.
