News Superman & Lois Ordered to Series at The CW

I wonder what Smallville is going to be like. I assume bigger than Mayberry but not something huge clearly like New York or LA. Also is it going to be close enough to Metropolis that they can go to the big city a lot. I mean Superman can go anytime of course but for humans is it going to be like a 20 minute drive or so.

Does anyone know if their is going to be a Lexcorp in this Smallville as well? Some of these small towns often have this one big company that sort of keeps the whole town going. I use to live in Perry Oklahoma and the Ditch Witch company was the big place where it seems like half of the town worked at. They were, at least at the time the only place where they made their tractors and whatnot.

From what I've heard, the show is going to have an "evil corporate element," but it's not Lex:
It's Morgan Edge, whom they're apparently, and unfortunately, recasting -- despite Adrian Pasdar having totally rocked the character on Supergirl.

I agree with your disappointment in the spoiler. I would chalk it up to a post-Crisis effect (not that that makes it any less disappointing).

Eh, maybe the new guy'll be great, too. (This is part of my general sense of eagerness and optimism about this show. I'm aware on some level that I might be letting my expectations get too high, but I just can't help myself.)

Regardless of the actor, Edge's presence makes me hope for Intergang and the New Gods to make an appearance. A Darkseid crossover event for 2022 would be awesome.

EDIT: Of course, Apokolypse would just be a smoky gravel pit/quarry.

The prospect of seeing the New Gods actually look like the New Gods in live action sounds cool, but I seriously doubt that any CW show would be allowed to use them, especially Darkseid. I'd give a "maybe" to characters like Big Barda, Mr. Miracle or lesser villains like Desaad or Kalibak, but there is supposedly still a New Gods film in the works, so those are all probably spoken for.

That looks pretty good for a modern-day midwestern small town, except for one small detail that's commonly missed in a lot of productions, especially ones filmed in California. I grew up in the Midwest, and the curbs are rarely that sharp and have smoother curves. These types here are common to the neighborhoods I live in now in SoCal.

Interesting detail. Here in Canada most curbs have a rounded edge. What I immediately noticed is that it has to be Midwest because it is so flat.

Isn’t this filmed in BC? And curbs in Quebec (we haven’t left Canada yet ;) ) are much like those in the pictures (to which my wife’s mangled mag wheels on her car can attest  )

So are they actually filming in a small town somewhere, or is it just a back lot?
It's constructed, on some fairgrounds the production leased (for an initial three-year term, IIRC). As I understand it, most of the buildings are false fronts, but a few are being built out inside so cameras can follow the characters in and out:

It's a backlot specially built for the show. There have been construction photos posted. Though I think they're building it in the same place where the Smallville town backlot was.

Trying to recall my days in Montreal....
I overstepped--I was just referring to BC. That said I have to admit that I have never been that observant when visiting Vancouver.
