News Superman & Lois Ordered to Series at The CW

Some of those buildings got roofs. I think we know they are going to be having Superman land on them sometimes.

First official look at new costume:

As trunk-less Superman suits go, I like this one alright. Kind of like the Rebirth suit. The collar is pretty SR, though.

I like it, especially the more classic neckline/cape attachment. I do wonder why superhero costumes these days always have to have that weird waffle-iron texture, though. Whatever happened to just fabric?

I don't mind the texture at all, but I don't care much for it on the S, just seems a bit much to me.
But the costume looks really good otherwise.

I like it. Though I miss the days of Christopher Reeve photographed with the NeW York City skyline behind him under natural light. Or the indoor photo shoots of Keaton, Kilmer, and Clooney in costume without all this heavy digital touch ups.

These modern first look superhero photos are almost never representative of what they look on film. They usually look much better in the actual tv show or film. So I never understand why they do this. That is allow an awkward poise of Tyler. I like him and the suit but this not represent either that well.

^ Agree on the processing. Think the pose looks fine, though. In any case, it beats the hell out of the hideous initial publicity shot they released when he was first cast in Supergirl.

Yeah, they go way overboard on the Photoshopping with these pictures.

The texture always makes me think of a basketball.

So, they brought the clasps over to the Supergirl suit, only to remove them from the next version of the Superman suit. Is it so much to ask for a little uniformity? :p

I wonder if part of it is to evoke how some modern athletic wear has similar textures in the weave of it. The stock superhero costumes were basically the high-performance workout clothes of the 1930s (though, in that case, the specific athletes they were modeled on were circus strongmen and the like), so there's some symmetry in having the more modern costumes look like top-grade moisture-wicking aerodynamic clothes you'd see at the Olympics or things like that.

That makes sense in theory, sure, but do athletic outfits really have a texture like that? I mean, some of these costumes look like they're made of rubber rather than fabric. Maybe I'm just unfamiliar with modern athletic wear, but they don't look like functional athletic wear to me. If they did (or if they do and I just don't know it), I wouldn't have a problem.
