News Superman & Lois Ordered to Series at The CW

Don't know this site, but it doesn't have the obvious stink of fictional clickbait sites like We Got This Covered. I'm provisionally inclined to believe it. Purported concept and character breakdown for Superman & Lois (SPOILERS obviously, if true):

https://www.primetimer.com/pilots/blog/the-cws-superman-lois-character-breakdown

Some thoughts:
This info does track with some stuff that was already known, such as the casting breakdowns for the two teen boys that came out a couple of months ago, and the fact that "Elseworlds" indicated Martha was still alive and living on the farm.

It seems odd to me that there are so many characters residing in Smallville, when the series leads are based in Metropolis.

Also surprising is the very dark setup for Lana's family. Though maybe they're trying to get ambitious enough to tackle real-world issues affecting Middle America, instead of the usual idyllic portrayal of Smallville?

I would love it if they got the same actor for Sam Lane as the one in Supergirl's first season, but I'm thinking it more likely they'll recast.
Excited to have some news, if this report pans out.

Yeah, I had the same thought about Lana's family, that's pretty dark for an Arrowverse show. It also seems a bit odd to me that it says the shows starts with Clark getting fired, when I thought the whole focus of the show was supposed to be them juggling work, parenting, and super heroics. It's not much of a juggling act when one of them doesn't have a job. I'm also a bit surprised there's no mention of any of the Daily Planet staff, I was expecting that to be a big part of the show too. I guess there's always the chance they could just have people like Perry White, Ron Troupe, and Steve Lombard as recurring characters rather than regulars.

I don't see why they'd recast Sam Lane. Glenn Morshower already did 12 episodes of Supergirl and he doesn't have any other series commitments.

Well, this is a couple of decades along from the usual Superman story, after all. Two characters who are traditional members of the Planet staff, Cat Grant and James Olsen, have moved on to become media moguls in their own right. So there's no reason to expect the rest of the usual staff to be there.

True, but that was when Sg was shot in L.A., and General Lane is one of those first-season characters who have never been seen again since the Vancouver move, along with Lucy Lane, Maxwell Lord, and (mostly) Cat Grant.
WGTC isn’t very reliable
Read my post again. They're not the source.

This is kind of interesting:

According to both the Primetimer report and other articles announcing this casting news, Jonathan and Jordan are twins, and Primetimer pegs their ages as 13. But the actor playing Jonathan is 19 IRL, while the kid playing Jordan is only 12.

Another forum I just visited had posters decrying the age disparity as the Worst Travesty Ever, and obvious proof the show is going to be a complete disaster. It admittedly seems odd, but these shows have a near flawless track record when it comes to casting major roles, even when the choices seem counterintuitive. (Jon Cryer, anyone?) They obviously knew the actors' ages and picked them anyway, and I trust they know what they're doing.

Sure, but a 19 year old playing a 12 year old is a bit hard to buy unless there's some kind of sci-fi slow aging or time travel going on.
You can get away with that kind of age difference a bit easier with adults, but there is just way to much of developmental difference for it to work with kids without some kind of explanation.

Tom Welling was 24 when he was cast to play a 15-year-old Clark Kent in Smallville, but people just accepted it.

More recently, Ryan Potter was 22 when he was first cast to play 15-year-old Gar Logan on Titans.

Guess we're talking about the boys' deets without spoiler tags now?

Anyway, it seems the younger actor isn't 12, but more like 14. Apparently his Google info is out of date.

And DigificWriter, weren't you the one making an issue at one point about the ages of the actresses cast as young Kara and Alex on Supergirl, and how you could tell a 16- from a 17-year-old on sight, and how "repeating Smallville's mistake of casting actors who were way too old for their roles isn't a good thing"? (Don't say no, because I will link.)

That said, you're more right now than then. Actors play ages other than their own all the time.

In that instance, I believe that I was concerned with the re-casting and the actors' ages because of broader concerns about the series trying to rewrite its own internal chronology, but you may be right.

Now, though, I wouldn't have raised those objections because it's become commonplace on Supergirl itself for there to be a big discrepancy between actor ages and character ages.

I think it's a bit easier to get away with casting an adult for a teenager, but 12 still seems a bit you to be casting an adult.

for an arrow verse example, Paul Blackthorne is 50 but Quentin Lance had to be older or Caity Lotz who's 33 had to be younger Sara as did Katie Cassidy who's also 33.
(did they ever say who of the Lance daughters was older?)
