Oh, for Christ's sweet sake, you incredible bozo. I just asked Jason to cool it, too, so this is a politically neutral request to STFU.
What a wonderful way of words you have! So classy. So tolerant.
The irony is that my complaints about Supergirl is that it has too much politics and I would like them to lay off. That's my complaint. I want the show to be apolitical. Same with Superman. If your hatred of politics on this board is any indication, maybe you want that too.
It's about on par with Riverdale, which no one is suggesting cancelling. It's still getting twice the numbers Dynasty is getting. And all CW shows are one of the lowest rated shows on network TV - Supergirl handily beats all new shows on Freeform, FXX, Syfy, TV Land, and WGN America. Meanwhile, the CW's highest rated show, The Flash, can't even beat Will & Grace and has less than half the total viewers of the lowest rated show on CBS (SWAT). Any CW show would get cancelled on any of the other networks. The CW thus has to operate differently, which they have through their deal with Netflix. If anything, that Netflix deal is what will drive cancellations. The sooner those shows end, the sooner the contract with Netflix ends, and Warner Brothers can get their shows back and put them on HBOMax.
Well, comparing a show to a worse show doesn't make that show a ratings winner. The bottom line though is that Supergirl's decline has been tremendous in recent years. And I'm not talking Season 1 to Season 2. That would be unfair. I'm talking since it moved to CW. Season 4 was down about 31% from Season 3 in the 18-49 demographic. Season 5 is down about 27% from Season 4. By contrast, Flash is only down about 13.5%.
In total viewers the declining viewers, it's a little closer though Supergirl is still declining more rapidly, and Flash year to year, has actually gained viewers over the last 2 weeks from the same week in 2018.
Being on CW is the only reason any of these shows remain on the air, but Supergirl's decline has been very rapid and very large.
The point of Superman's moral is that no matter what goes on across this nation, he is above it all, and unlike humans, never resorts to the petty, manipulative nature of too many people.
..
Exactly. This show shouldn't be political at all. I hope there is a somewhat universal ideal of good and bad in this country, and Superman should stick to that. An innocent is in trouble, Superman helps. There is a global threat, Superman helps. Superman will take punishment first because he feels he can take it better than anyone else. Superman loves the people. The people love Superman.
In Black Lightning's case, that would be unfortunate, as its the jewel in the DC-TV crown, superior across the board.
I will concede that Black Lightning is doing worse than Supergirl and probably would be canceled first.
The CW DCU needs a bit of a shot in the arm I think. I'm glad Superman is being made, but it really needs a creative team independent of Supergirl. I like that they have Geoff Johns and some of The Flash's team. I will watch with interest.
