Superman: Earth One Preview!

Superman is the only "meta-human" in this continuity...and it is unknown if we'll see any of the other DC heroes in this format. It's been talked about it but I'm sure it will be up to sales.

:devil:i pass on this 1! i love superman just the way he is! they will not get $20 out of me! very mad about this crap!

So where is Earth-One:Batman set? A different world? Isn't that sort of confusing?

I don't think that's been publicized yet. Batman isn't a meta-human, so, in theory, he could exist on Superman's Earth One.

This looks and feels incredibly mediocre from the preview. Is there anything about that differentiates it from the fifty other Superman origins we've read, all with slight differences to the same overall plot?

It's not been confirmed yet where Batman fits into this yet...but as was pointed out Bruce isn't a meta-human.

Yeah, using the first few pages of a book as a teaser only really works when those first few pages are, you know, interesting. All I really got from this was some emo teen with laser eyes being a douche to his landlady.

I don't think he was being a douche to his landlady...he was lost in thought while she was talking to him, he has a lot on his mind after all. From the response so far from so little I can tell that these books aren't going to be for everyone.

Seriously, they EMOZIZED Superman?? Really??

"Flying is too fast mom. I want this. This is... real".

Really? BULL FUCKING SHIT. Its like they want the emos and the piece of shit depressed teenagers and adults to read this crap! What the hell was wrong with Birthright continuity?? It was a fresh, modern, crisp and FUN way of retelling Supes' origins. This one.. so fucking depressing. DC didn't learn from their mistake that was Superman Returns it seems. Fuck this shitfaced Earth One stuff.

Emo is one of those words that doesn't mean anything anymore. It's the new gay. Which was the new lame. Which was the new square.

That said, he's totally square.

Wow. That's quite a reaction from only five pages.

Also, you completely misinterpreted the quote by cutting out its context. He's not saying that riding the train is any more real than flying. He's riding the train because he needs time to think, and he needs time to think because his moving to Metropolis (and dealing with the world and his powers) has finally become real to him.

Also, BIRTHRIGHT was only ever in DC continuity for about 5 minutes or so. And DC didn't make SUPERMAN RETURNS, that would be Brian Singer and Warner Bros.

The only thing that was really kept from "Birthright" was that it retconned Clark and Lex being friends in Smallville, this has been reinforced in the comics and in "Superman: Secret Origin". Again this isn't going to be for everyone...if you don't like it stick to the mainstream Superman books, and if you don't like that because of what JMS is doing with his walkabout then go read Paul Cornell's Lex Luthor arc over in Action because it's tons of fun. There's also Superman/Batman which is quite fun right now as well.
