It's worth pointing out that nowhere in the past three movies did Batman hang out with a little kid.

Nor did he in any of the other ones. Chris O'Donnell and even Burt Ward didn't exactly fit the description "little kid", did they?

And Spider-Man shooting webs. Guess he should stop doing that now. Or Batman hanging out with a little kid. So long, Robin! And Hulk? Just needs a nice cup of tea and a sit down.

If you'd actually bothered to read my previous post in context, instead of going off on an unrelated rant, you might have seen that I was simply replying to a beaker full of death's comment about never having heard non-fans comment about the trunks. Nowhere did I express a view on whether or not they should remain.

Jokes about Batman hanging out with a kid in tights have been (and still are) as much of a 'pop culture stable' as Superman's underpants (if not more so), regardless of what's happening in the latest movie or comic.

If people are gonna joke about it anyway then why worry?

I was simply replying to the assertion that beaker had never heard non-fans talk about the trunks by pointing to the prevalence of references to them. I wasn't saying whether or not I thought that the makers of the movie should be influenced by those jokes.

I'm not in the least worried about whether or nor they remain. I thought the small trunks in Returns looked fine, I think the non-trunks in MOS look fine.

Well, I think the "regardless" part is a big part. Why do you think a kid in tights isn't in the latest Batman movie? Can you think of a possible connection between that and Superman not having his red underpants in his movie?
