^ Why the frown? The tone of the film has been known and speculated about pretty much since Nolan was appointed Executive Producer. They're going for a well rounded character this time around.
Snyder has gone for a much more scaled back (of his own style) and more traditional approach with the filming of "Man of Steel" from stuff I've heard and read. If people are expecting this to be like "Watchmen" style then they might be in for a surprise. Not saying that he is completely ignoring his style, just that it has been scaled back.

I had heard they had a video they were going to release. It is a disappointing video. Not much to see at all.
That was lame and I believe someone did post actual set photos from that part of the shot. It's funny they're still continuing to use that fan made poster lol.

Clearly you don't understand - Snyder is speeding up/slowing down an action shot. Ruined Forever! 
I never understood the problem people have with that effect. I think it looks dynamic and cool as hell.
It's only when Snyder makes the entire movie look that stylized and overly-choreographed that things start to go wrong (and characters suddenly look like just props in a music video).

Because it shows a lack of subtlety and creativity. It also shows a lack of restraint or an appreciation of the art form.
On the Terminator 2 commentary, James Cameron made a comment that he doesn't use slow motion during action scenes, and least not often. But he WILL use slow motion to build to an action scene but the action itself will play out normally. Imagine the scene in T2 where Sarah sees Uncle John for the first time. That was in slow mo, and was perfect. But when Uncle John beats up the security guards assaulting her, that's played real. If Cameron had sped up and slowed down and sped up that moment simply because it was a cool-looking gimmick it would have been sloppy story-telling and it would have drawn too much attention to itself. "looook! Here's the director working! Check out that style!"
Cameron and Peter Jackson and echelons above Snyder as true story tellers. Snyder is more interested in gimmickry.
The use of slow motion in cases like this always reminds me of the Six Million Dollar Man. That was hokey at the time. I have never seen "bullet time" as any more than a more glossy modern take of the same idea. But still unimaginative. To me it drains super speed of real excitment
It's like anything else in movie-making - it's simply a tool, a technique in the movie-maker's kitbox. It can be used well, it can be used badly. I don't think it makes a lot of sense to make a sweeping assertion about its validity.
Yeah, I agree. I was never impressed with Bullet time. It seems like such a pedestrian way to make a scene without any inherent emotion seem exciting, but for me, it has the opposite effect. in any case, if they are so desperate that they need to use bullet time to ellicit an emotion out of the viewer, they have forgotten about real story-telling. i even hate when bullet time-type shots are used in films I kind of like (like I, Robot) because it's so distracting.
Here's the thing about slow motion. it only only works when it punctuates a story point. When the orcs and goblins break down the door to Balin's tomb in FOTR that battle is shown in real time as a real battle where you can't even count the number of foes that are there.. it only goes to slow-motion when Frodo is injured.
I almost think that doing that wasn't necessary, but at least Jackson wasn't doing it just because it looked cool.
