Not to disparage Amy Adams but Isla Fisher is much better looking, but at a quick glance they do both have similar-looking features.

There was no suggestion of a real movie in that synopsis. Can you imagine Nolan listening to any of that and saying "oh yeah, that works for me, that's good" or any variation of it? No, no, and no.
Agreed. My previous favourites were Phyllis Coates, Erica Durance and Dana Delaney (animated). Never really cared for Margot Kidder and Teri Hatcher.
I can't as, like everyone here, I don't know the man. As such, I don't have any insight, nor a right to claim, on what Nolan would perceive a Superman film to be like.

This is slightly off topic, but I don't want to start a separate thread. Has anyone or is anyone planning on buying season 10 of Smallville? Admiral Young maybe? I am just curious, I plan on getting it sooner or later.
It's way to expensive or else I'd consider getting the Smallville Complete Series Box set. I'll probably get it at a reduced rate. I kind of want the Daily Planet "event" paper that is included with it 
It is supposed to be written by DC writers and be in newspaper form about all the major story lines that were told on the series.

I like the comparison of green screen to kids playing make-believe in the back yard.
Kinda bummed to hear about the lack of wire work. I know it was to be expected, this being a Zack Snyder film, but I was still hoping to see a return of those graceful takeoffs and landings that we saw in the Reeve movies.
There was something so simple and truly magical about seeing a guy actually hanging in the air, that no CG effect has ever been able to duplicate. In fact, after all these years, it's still easily my favorite special effect in any superhero movie-- just Reeve on some freakin wires.
While I'm of the opinion that -- with care -- CGI can do anything and look good doing it, I do seem to recall being amazed by some of the wire work done in the later Superman films. As Reeve got practice in the harness, his take offs and landings became graceful, as you said. Even breathtaking.
Of course, it's been a very long time since I've seen those films. Maybe the fog of years has been generous.

I agree, it's way to exspensive right now. Walmart has past seasons on DVD for $15, I have every season except 1,2 and 10. I really don't even want season 10, but at this point I just feel the need to complete the collection.
An eight year old has spunk. An adult has intelligence, fire, competence, power, forcefullness, passion, and so on. If you've read any Superman of the last 30 years, these are words that describe the character of Lois Lane.
Amy Adams as Lois - now that's some casting I can get behind. She does indeed have power and fire, while also being very feminine. While Henry Cavill strikes me as just a pretty face from what I've seen of him, this casting choice is much more intriguing. Adams has some real acting chops.

I have mentioned this before, but I'll bring it up again, I saw Amy Adams for the first time in "Julie and Julia" and immediately thought she would make a good Lois Lane. That was before she was cast. I would prefer her hair to be darker, but I think Adams will nail it. Another choice that I could have seen maybe around the time of Returns or earlier would be Jennifer Connelly.
I think it really depends on how old you want to make Clark. I know this has been part of the discussion, but all of my life I've always been under the impression that Lois was at least four or five years older than Clark. I mean she would almost have to be, considering her position at the Planet when Clark starts, that's not to say that Clark couldn't have out and about for a while. Still, I have always thought Lois was older.
So, as critical as I may be about some of the changes, I really have no problem with the casting and frankly, the suit is growing on me as well as Perry being black.

Oh man, me too. It always galled me that so much else about that first Superman was perfect (it's still my all-time favorite movie, even with Kidder), except for that one piece of miscasting. Never could imagine what Superman saw in her.

Wow, then everybody else who read with him must have been terrible. I didn't think they had any chemistry whatsoever, one of the biggest problems with that movie.
I can't find my copy of Michael Fleischer's Superman Encyclopedia at the moment, but I seem to remember that as of its writing (sometime in the mid-70s, I believe), Lois had indeed been established as being one or two years older than Clark.

I agree, however, I think Adams has the Lois look and Fisher does not.
Well it was hard to really get a good feel for their chemistry, because she was supposed to be so bitter at him for leaving. And the tone of the whole movie was so somber and reflective as well.
But I thought their scene on the roof was well-played, and by the end of their flight I had no trouble believing they had some kind of history together.
Bosworth as Lois Lane was fine for the situation the film had Lois in. The problem was that the she (and Routh, for that matter) appeared way too young (because she was) for the backstory to successfully work. If it was an origin film, I'd think she wouldn't have been viewed as harshly. Just my two cents.
She was far too young for the role and I enjoyed Superman Returns overall.
Didn't have a problem with Bosworth, relative to most of the other Lois Lanes - none of them have been great. I'm fond of Phyllis Coates and Noelle Neill, of course; they're "grandmothered in."
