Superman (casting, rumors, pix till release)

You can watch some of the "Superman Lives" test footage

What the fuck is that even supposed to be?
Yeah, that is just bizarre. You could maybe get away with it for an original character, but I can't believe someone considered putting Superman in it.

^ 'Cause it is possible that his hair hadn't been touched up in the Superman pic? I'm reaching here because all of this hair talk is kind of ridiculous.

I just don't see why they would go through the trouble of adhering to that look as Clark, then change it for Superman. Again, it's just arbitrary change for no real reason. It doesen't bother me, I just don't see why it's necessary?

I have to say, while it might not have been an ideal choice for Superman, the light-up costume does look kinda cool.

Hmm. Perhaps I was wrong about the 'shop.

I'm glad this didn't happen if for no other reason than Cage is totally wrong to play Superman.

I have to believe that the picture was taken after a fitting and probably not reflective of how Cage would actually look in the film.

He looks a tiny bit like Tom Welling
I thought the same thing.
Eerie.

And Tom Welling looks a bit like Jeff East, who looks a bit like Christopher Reeve, who looks a bit like Brandon Routh.

In other words, he has that live-action Superman look to him.

Well played, Snyder. :techman:

On a different topic, how long are they shooting in Illinois?

Looks to me like they were kinda trying to achieve the same "surging energy" effect that we saw in Green Lantern, only done practically.

It's kind of a cool idea, but this version just seems like it would be WAY too distracting on screen.

That may be, but, as is, I think the suit looks cool and somewhat novel.

...Just not for Superman.

Really? I think it looks ridiculous, and, had it ever appeared in a Supes film, it would have killed the genre forever.

Everybody complains about this costume, but wasn't it stated somewhere that it was basically for Superman's regeneration scene and not for the movie as a whole?

Even if was to only be on screen for 10 seconds, it would have become the focal point of the entire film and completely killed it. You know that as much as I do. ;)

I don't think they are going to be very long in Chicago. I've forgotten when they're even going to Chicago. I think it is before they arrive here in Vancouver in the middle of next month. I also saw an article that i found that stated that the Vancouver shoot will be mostly interior shooting (so maybe this means no open set?).

I don't like it either but I think you guys are overreacting a bit. Burton was obviously attempting to capture with Cage's casting the same thing he did when he cast Michael Keaton as Bruce Wayne. Out of the box casting. We've seen it here in "Man of Steel" already. Not sure why we're talking about a long dead production still either.
