Superman (casting, rumors, pix till release)

There's no reason to fear modernity and change even if it isn't necessary. He still looks like Superman overall, so I don't see anything radical with the outfit. I would support a gold (or actually, red) belt, but I see nothing wrong with the movie's interpretation. We're not talking about Tim Burton's suit here.

As Superman apparently does in this movie. Your point?

Sorry, but I didn't see any sort of belt in the pics posted.

Then you should get your eyes checked, because there clearly is some kind of belt there.

A while back, some artist got into trouble for DC as he was selling painting of Batman. However his Batman was naked expect for his cowl, boots and gloves. Think about how scary that would be - you are mugging some guy in an alley and then some naked hooded guy with a hard-on comes rushing towards you!

^

I seem to recall John Byrne addressed the cape issue once by showing how Superman was able to fold it up in an extremely small package and stow it but I cannot for the life of me remember when that was.

I kind of remember that too, but I think it would have been from the 70s. Or maybe I'm confusing it with the opposite - Clark super-compressing his street clothes and stowing them in a pocket in his cape. At the time, my modest Superman knowledge would have probably come from Dynamite magazine.

Supes looks great, can't wait to see him not wearing trunks in super slow motion.

Ha ha. Actually people rip on Snyder and his over use of slow motion, but I'm actually looking forward to it this time.

Unlike some movies, like Watchmen, where it felt a bit distracting and out of place, in a Superman movie you actually WANT something like that to emphasize how epic and powerful this character is.

Plus it's certain to make him look badass as hell. :D

Like that shot of a bullet bouncing off of his eye in Superman Returns. That was pretty cool.

He's not Tom Cruise, you know.
I do, and it pains me.

Agreed. I actually enjoy Snyder's style and was very stoked when he chose to do this film.

Welcome to my Wednesday nights.

You gotta stop hanging out in the alley behind the Blue Oyster bar.
Ok, I'm having a total brain fart.... what movie is that from? I'm thinking it's either Animal House, Revenge of the Nerds, or Stripes, but I can't remember which.

The Burton suit was fine. They even retooled the comics to go more that direction, all black, after the movie. Prior he was still wearing the blue/grays.

It was the Schumacher suit with nipples that was an atrocity.

Grant Morrison credits the Burton suit's iconic Bat symbol for inspiring Batman Incorporated in the first place. Basically he stated that the marketing of that symbol on the film's merc inspired him to think...what if Bruce Wayne started to market the idea of Batman as a symbol across the world to aide him in his ongoing war on crime and viola! Batman, Inc was born.

Just that little change makes all the difference. I actually am liking the suit ok, bur prefer the traditional. The material on this one really throws me off.

Tim Burton Superman suit, not Batman suit.
