Superman (casting, rumors, pix till release)

I know I'm probably alone in this, but I never cared for the idea of every family on Krypton having their own "family crest" (and naturally Clark's is the only one that looks like a letter in our alphabet. lol)

I preferred the idea that Birthright seemed to put forth, where the S shield was the official crest for all of Krypton. Seems a bit less contrived, and it also allows Superman to represent his entire home planet instead of just one family.
 
The Kryptonians already have a flag, though. An obscenely ugly flag, but a flag nonetheless. :p

I don't mind it looking like an S. With the multiplicity of writing systems on Earth, it was bound to look like something, and it's easy to imagine its similarity to an S inspired the name "Superman," rather than the other way around.

If was pointy and looked like it had wings, would Clark Kent have become a bat? :shifty:
 
Happy Birthday to Amy! Regarding New Krypton and the flags, it was retconned the current head of the military guild has the honor of having their crest emblazoned on the Council temple as well as Kandor (since it was the only surviving city thanks to Brainiac) was recognized as the flag of New Krypton and I think incorporated all the caste colors in it. I really loved the fact that Johns reconciled previous incarnation of Krypton and created one rich culture.


The yellow S on the back of the cape has been featured on both "Lois and Clark" and "Smallville" from very early one. Clark sees it as his future when he touches the seerer Cassandra in I think season two. It was not featured in Superman Returns for the reasons given earlier in the thread but was on the Reeves suit.

Did he ever have an S on the cape in the movies or on TV? I never noticed, so I probably never cared either.

[edit]@AY I know they showed the cape with the yellow & black shield in "Hereafter" in S3 when Jordan Cross touched Clark...Jordan is the guy who could see people's final moments before they die. The ep with Cassandra was S1...but I don't remember seeing it in that ep...I believe all Clark saw when she touched him was an endless graveyard.
 
I'm pretty sure all of these roles are going to depend on the actors performance. After all looks is just one aspect of auditioning.

I've been poking my head in the thread every now and then, but nothing has struck me either way.

I'll get more excited (one way or the other) once something substantial comes out.
