Superman (casting, rumors, pix till release)

Franky, I can't imagine a black man whose name is "Perry".

And while we're at it, I can't imagine anyone in their early thirties in the year 2011 who is named Clark or Lois.

Cassidy Freeman(Tess Mercer from SMALLVILLE) has a brother named Clark...he is in his twenties. ;) She is in a band with him too.

Tyler would like a word with you.

Wait, wait, wait. Tyler Perry is a man?!

Halleluyeer!

And these are the kinds of preposterous hypotheticals that are always resorted to in discussions of nontraditional casting because the folks objecting can' never come up with an actual example where it's really hurt the credibility or success of a production.

Well, one can argue that Kristin Kreuk hurt Smallville, but I think that had little to do with her ethnicity. :p

I doubt Snyder is going to have any sway in the marketing for Man of Steel. Warner Bros.' marketing department controls the advertising of their films. According to cinematographer Wally Pfister, the director or production crew have little input on the construction of trailers, posters, etc. All the input people like Pfister have is color timing the trailer.

Maybe, but I can't imagine Warners would have hired Snyder in the first place if they didn't want him to put his unique stamp all over the movie-- and part of what makes a "Zack Snyder movie" are those dynamic, ultra-stylish trailers of his that always get people talking.

I don't know about that. Like I mentioned before, the theatrical trailers for both Superman Returns and Green Lantern were fairly exciting.

Well I guess it's a subjective thing, but to me they just didn't have nearly the same "cool factor" as the Marvel trailers I've seen. They were romantic and traditional, while Marvel is a bit more hard edged and rock and roll.

Has it occurred to fans that maybe this movie won't be conformed to Snyder's traditional style? We still don't know why Chris Nolan (and it was Nolan that hired him) selected him to direct? I just find it humorous that fans automatically think that this movie will be injected with Zach's style just because he is known for a certain style. Until we see actual footage from the film we can't know what it will look visually yet. We only assume that Snyder will be using his unique style in the film.

I don't see a Batman vs. Superman movie happening...

I can see it happening. In fact, I'll write it right now:

BATMAN Vs. SUPERMAN
by Broccoli

FADE IN:

SUPERMAN is hovering a few feet off the ground. His attitude is nonchalant.

BATMAN jumps into the frame, cape billowing in the wind!

BATMAN: (gargling) Superman, I challan-

Superman punches Batman into the ground. His skull explodes.

SUPERMAN: So much for "time to prepare."

Superman shrugs and flies off.

FADE OUT.

LE FIN.

Believe it or not, I would pay ten dollars to see this film.

Say, this thread is, like, ridiculously long. But I'll keep my question brief: Is Steve Lombard in this mother? I like Steve Lombard.

I'm sure he'll dial things back a bit, and we already know there's going to be a lot more location work than in his last few movies.... but I don't see why it wouldn't still have a great deal of his style in it.

It's not like he's suddenly going to shoot this like a Woody Allen movie or something. lol

^ I didn't claim that but with the Nolans and Goyer involved in the story structure I'm just saying that people might be surprised by Zach. That is why I was one of few who was immediately excited. I'm not saying he'll be reined in either. I'm just saying that it isn't logical this point to be assuming or judging things, or having our speculation as fact when we still don't know so much.

I didn't see much. They had cordoned off the main street of Plano. All I saw for the brief time I was there were a bunch of cars driving past. I didn't see any of the cast.
