Superman (casting, rumors, pix till release)

What script? I am referring to movies that have been out for years and noting that based on what little we know at this point it is starting to sound like Superman 2.

Not a bit, actually.

You have a character name. That's it.
Yes, the single data point we have comes straight from Superman 2. That's all I am saying. It's a PR failure that the first thing we learn is that the villain will be the same as the second movie. I am sure that as we learn more it will differentiate, but from a starting point it's not a good thing.
That "single data point" comes straight from the comics. The fact that he was also used in the previous films is no different than the use of Jimmy Olsen or Perry White.

Of course, I'm hoping for a Krypto cameo... ;)

You're not saying much. No one has ever suggested that extrapolation from a single data point is worth a goddamn in reaching a useful conclusion.

Who's declaring it a "PR failure" except you?

m a starting point it's not a good thing.

It's not a bad thing. Zod's a popular character. So are Superman, Lois Lane, and Lex Luthor - go figure.

You've got a name. You jumped to an unjustified conclusion. That's it.

In a shock announcement, Director Zack Snyder has revealed that his new Superman film will not feature Superman, Clark Kent or Lois Lane. "I just think those characters are played out and might cause confusion with previous films". Instead Snyder plans to use Comet the Superhorse and Beppo the Supermonkey.

If this is a reference to "The Adventures of Brisco County, Jr.", I tip my hat to you, good sir. :techman:

Jeez, how many superanimals are there in DC comics? I'd only heard of "Krypto, the Superdog" and I thought he was one of a kind! :D Maybe the "Brisco County Jr." Comet was an homage, then?

There were four "super animals" during the Silver Age: dog, cat, monkey, and horse, Krypto of course being the most known.

Krypto and the monkey Beppo were from Krypton. Krypto was launched in an experimental spacecraft ahead of baby Kal-El and Beppo stowed away in Kal-El's ship.

Streaky was a terrestrial cat that gained superpowers and became Supergirl's pet.

Comet was a centaur named Biron in ancient Greece who was magically cursed into pure horse form. Though he retained human intelligence he could no longer speak. Biron later gained superpowers as well and allied himself with with Supergirl, who named him Comet and was unaware of his true origins. Biron was in love with Supergirl but was unable to profess his love because he was, you know, a horse.

Now, THAT's what I call a great origin.

I heard it has a lot of the same characters as the first one - some guy called Clark Kent is in it for sure.

OK, this is the difference between a core character and a guest villain.

How many people would watch Smallville if every episode had Zod as the villain? for 10 years?

You'd probably get a yes answer, if there was only 2 epoisodes of Smallville in those 10 years, A much fairer comparison, since there ahve only been 2 Superman Movies with him

Seeing as this is the 6th big screen Superman movie since 1978 and the first in over 30 years to feature Zod (with 3 in the interim that he wasn't in), that's not really a very good comparison.

I think people need to remember these big budget movies need to bring in casual fans as well as core fans and someone like Zod will be recognizable to the casual fan.

Regardless, Therapist has a point. Haha every time I see that word I think of the SNL skit.

"I'll take The Rapist for 1000 Alex!"

"That's therapist, Sean" "This show has reached a new low"

@The Seeker....Zod has been in two movies. The start of "Superman: The Movie" and of course the main villain in "Superman II".
