Superman (casting, rumors, pix till release)

Basically what we got so far is...

Henry Cavill as Clark Kent/Superman/Kal El
Kevin Costner as Jonathan Kent
Diane Lane as Martha Kent

And this movie won't be like anything before it.

^ The fact that two relatively young actors have been cast as Clark's adoptive parents would certainly suggest that his early days will play a significant enough role.

Edit - speaking of which, in addition to the Snyder interview, already posted, this link has some quotes from Lane:

Kevin Costner is 56. He could be the adoptive father of someone ranging in age from 0 to 30. We can't really make any assumption about how much Smallville will be featured based on his age. Not to mention the parents of Kirk and Spock were cast in the last Star Trek movie, yet there was minimal time spent on their childhoods. Until the movie comes out, any talk about how long will be spent on Clark's childhood is pure speculation.

Except that Kevin Costner and Diane Lane are much more prominent actors than Chris Hemsworth and Jennifer Morrison, so it would be reasonable to expect this film would feature its hero's parents more heavily than Star Trek did.

It seems my feeling was right that the script would follow the structure of "Batman Begins". I remember posting a thread a couple of years ago asking that very question, what would a "Superman Begins" type script be like? My criteria were that it had to follow the "Batman Begins" structure. I don't remember the responses from that thread now.

Everything so far has me very pleased, and I didn't think Viggo would be Zod.

Yeah they're taking their time with casting in order to get who they want for the parts they need to fill. Plus Zack has been busy with "Sucker Punch" right now. I've stated that we'll most likely get more casting news once his commitments to the film are over which should be in the next couple of weeks. He's promised the rest of the casting is gonna be awesome and so far it has been so I wouldn't be surprised if it continues in the direction it's been.

New interview where he talks some about Superman. I'm definitely encouraged to hear that he wants a more "realistic" feel for this movie, and that it apparently won't just be in his usual, super-stylized style.

And he also plans to do a lot more location work than he's done in the past, so it won't just be another all-green screen thing either.

Frankly I don't mind if he continues to bring his stylish flair to the action scenes; I just don't want every OTHER freakin scene in the movie to be posed and stylized beyond belief as well (which for me was the main problem with Watchmen).
