For some reason precrisis, Superman hired human actors to pretend to be Lara and Jor-El just arrived on earth by Flying Saucer, and then the man of steel faked their super powers during a press conference to dupe the public.

How do pet-owner relationships work on Krypton?

With humans, with issues, it's like adoption, their dog is their family and even children... Or it's like slavery? But even in Django Unchained there were familial relationships generated between slave and slave owner.

Which if Jor-El owned/adopted Krypto, it would make Krypto Kara's cousin, but if Clark Adopted/owned Krypto, it would make the Dog and the little blone girl's 2nd cousins.

A year ago almost to the day, it was announced that a new show called "Gotham" would by-pass the pilot phase and go straight to series. Now we've got the same situation with Supergirl.

How will they work Superman into it? I'm sure he'll be mostly off-screen but will we ever see him? And what does this mean for Supergirl in the DC movies?

With a few exceptions, because my friends are assholes, which is 30 books at most, I still have every comic book I bought between 1988 and 2006 (50 thousand books?) (2007 is when I went totally digital.), in numbered, alphabetized boxes, in a line of sight from where I am sitting right now.

True, post Crisis we had Mae/Matrix the Supergirl from the Pocket Universe who lived with the Kents as a daughter for awhile. Then Peter David got his hands on her and she merged with Linda Danvers and became an Earth bound Angel ( what????) Then Kara Zor-el shows up to take the mantel.

Well the fact it's got the exec producer of Arrow and Flash behind it makes me think it's chances are probably pretty good. Since they've actually got experience with these kinds of shows (unlike, say, David E Kelley).

If that description is what we actually end up getting, then I am kind of glad Superman is going to be on the show, their relationship seems to be a pretty big part of Kara's character. I just hope if he is actually a character on the show, they don't have him on so much that he ends up overshadowing Supergirl.

Gotta disagree. The movies and TV shows are their own thing anyway. They can just pick and choose whatever they want from the various comic-book versions.

And the basic concept behind Supergirl is very simple and uncomplicated: She's Superman's kid cousin from Krypton. That's all the average TV viewer knows or needs to know to enjoy a SUPERGIRL series.

I'm old enough to remember when comics were twelve cents apiece and you bought them off spinner racks at 7-Eleven and Rexall Drugs. If you played your cards right, or had a little extra cash, you could maybe squeeze in a Slurpee, too.
