Supergirl - Season Four

Do they put the episodes of the other shows on the disc sets?
They've been inconsistent about this, but it looks like they've got a plan now. For the "Invasion!" crossover, the individual episodes were only released with their respective series, which was annoying. For "Crisis on Earth-X" and the forthcoming releases featuring "Elseworlds," however, all the crossover episodes are included on each show's Blu-ray sets (but not the DVD versions, because if you buy DVDs when Blu-ray is available you deserve what you get :p ).

^^I agree that its irritating to have only 5 of the most recent eps on the CW website, but if you have netflix the "current season" starts to play soon after the finale is broadcast.

probably boils down to money.

Do they have ads if you watch via the on demand service? If nothing then they don't really have anything to gain by having all the eps in on demand where as netflix will be paying for the streaming rights for as long as they have the programs up and having all the eps available would mean people won't watch on netflix so the money won't come in from that source.

Usually, yeah. Typically, at least for network shows on my cable service, it has the same ads that aired on the original broadcast for about the first week afterward, but later on it'll have a reduced number of ads. Some shows have limited ads from the start. But usually the fast-forward function on your DVR will be disabled, so you can't skip over the ads.

I'm pretty happy with the CW app actually--it works well, the streaming quality is good, and it is free. For shows I'm not interested in keeping up with throughout the season I can watch on Netflix when the season is over. I just finished the new Charmed and Roswell series--both pretty lackluster unfortunately, although Roswell improves as the season goes on.

I'm surprised they don't do a crossover only disc, seems like a no brainer to me. Do they put the crossover episodes of the other shows on the season sets?

They did do a seperate disk for Invasion and Crisis over here (Dvd only though). I've tended to pick up all of the series on blu though so I haven't actually tried them

I never understood why they were DVD only, especially given that the Invasion! episodes were all on separate box sets.

Sounds like they learned their lesson after Invasion.
EW.com has a short interview with Nicole Maines talking about how being on Supergirl has changed things for her.

I think the new Charmed is much better than the original, but then, the original was always pretty cheesy.

That was the nature of the original series, yes. It was also about dressing the women in sexy clothing, which is apparently okay since Milano and the other actresses were in charge of what they wanted to do?

This new series had a promising start, but I thought the last half of the season really dragged. If it is renewed I will probably watch it and give it a chance because I really liked the characters and the attention to the latino details.

The show is painfully predictable and I don't know the proper translation but it all feels so forced and childish.

Well, that's been a problem with the series since the pilot in one way or another. There was some hope of stronger stories earlier in this season, but it fell to the usual showrunner failings and obsessions.

And you knew from the start that Lena was going to find out the secret of Kara, my wife and I almost screamed at the tv ''just tell it!''.

Since she knows everyone lied to her--and its only due to her being a Luthor (and involved in experiments a certain someone does not like), she should naturally turn into a villain, not spend the next season trying to "prove" herself to people who never trusted her / made hard character assessments of all that she is.

I disagree.

Kara didn't lie because Lena is a Luthor, she kept her truth to herself because she was protecting her sister, her foster mother, her nonpowered friends and the truth re: the identity of her cousin and his weaknesses namely his foster mother and his significant other.

Why is it okay for Lena to lie to Alex about Sam, "It wasn't my truth to tell" but its not okay for Kara to keep the truth from Lena to protect everyone else?

Some truths are not to be shared at the start of relationship and that's the trap that Kara fell into with Lena. Lena supposedly refuses to trust anyone who's ever lied to her because any lie is a betrayal. But Lena doesn't count all the lies she tells to everyone else as a betrayal.

She knew the harunel was dangerous when she gave it back to Kara's mom to bring to Argo but she still kept making it and testing it. She experimented on humans to make them "super" without passing it by even one ethics committee in the process and she wonders why James was upset that she was not only doing it but selling the results to the government. A government, by the way, we now know was being lead by a lackey of Lex Luthor himself!

Time and time again she told Kara how important truth was to her, but time and time again she too kept the truth from Kara about her real plans behind inviting Supergirl to protect her gala in season 2, her initial attempts to Kill Morgan Edge in season 3, her experiments with kryptonite and harunel in season 3 and 4, her contacts with the brother who tried to KILL her multiple times in season 4, her work with the government to supply them with enhanced soldiers. SUPERGIRL was the one who had trouble with Lena, not Kara so she can't use that as an excuse for keeping the truth from her "best friend".

Lex Luthor played Lena the same way a certain teen aged villain played Marty Mcfly when he told him he was a CHICKEN. He told Lena "everyone knew" but her and they were all LAUGHING at her! MOCKING her, HUMILIATING her, that it was beyond belief that she could live in such denial as to believe white bread Kara Danvers was merely a mild mannered reporter.

He may be dying but HE wasn't a FOOL like her!

If Lena is a fool, it was to listen to Lex.

The first scene in the video-montage of hidden Supergirl antics showed SG saving Lena from Mercy Graves henchmen.

In fact the first time Lena met Supergirl was when SG saved her from the killer drones her brother's henchman directed towards her helicopter 3 years ago.

Supergirl saved Kena when her mother's henchmen knocked her off the balcony, she saved Lena from the crashing plane Morgan Edge arranged, she saved her from an exploding Metallo her mother created, she saved her from the alien spaceship/shotgun wedding Monel's mom planned.

As for will Lena be a villain or not, that possible turn to the darkness isn't on Kara's shoulders. Lena picked up the gun on her own and killed her brother in cold blood.

The PTSD from that alone could turn someone into their own monster, especially now that she feels she can't reach out to her friends. No one there to tell her to climb when she thinks its hopeless!

Since the show runners have spent the last 3 years telling us Lena isn't the monster we all suspected she would be, based on her last name, maybe they will do the same next season and teach Lena and Kara to forgive and build a new more open relationship. One built on the one thing neither has been able to fully give the other, trust.

Of course, with a team like Supergirl, Alex, Lena, James, J'onn, Brainy, and Nia working together... who could stop them?

During an interview with Kevin Smith for a Twitch gaming event, she said she'd been pushing for a pantsuit for a long time, so it might be permanent.

I'd personally hate if it was permanent. It's a similar eyesore as the Superman suits without red trunks. Maybe they could give her a pantsuit with red trunks?!

Yeah, personally not a fan, at all. The existing suit was perfection, and this is an improvement in precisely zero respects. Not crazy about the new 'do, either. If it ain't broke ....

It's been four years.

Batman wears his backlit bat shield on his kevlar stuffed chest to draw gunfire.

What was with 80's Supergirl, and her tiny little super shield just covering one boob?

Was righty more sensitive than lefty?

I imagine Darkseid punched her so her in her right boob during the super powers collection, that a Doctor told her that if even one more bullet struck her right bosom that it would burst.

Oh?

Hotpants?

I never noticed.

Looks like something from that time in the 70's when Supergirl went through a ton of costumes, some fan designed IIIRC.

Kara had access to the fortress, so why did she get Win to make her original costume with human resources and human tech?

Weird.

FANS CAN'T BE TRUSTED!

They killed Jason Todd, and gave Susan Storm a Mullet.

Just had a conversation with my wife.

Straight women don't get mullets.

Further conversation, my wife says that it was maybe a sneaky lesbian fan that sent in the mullet option, for the "new hair cut" competition, to trick the Invisible Woman into coming out as an undercover Lesbian.
