Supergirl - Season Four

Focused magnetic resonance imaging shows your brain on a monitor. It reflects the measurement of electron activity and blood flow. A tech shows you dozens of pictures that evoke strong emotions like puppies or murder. On the monitor different parts of your brain are shown to glow depending on what part of your brain is reacting to the stimulus.

How cis men and cis women react is different.

The study shows that cis men and trans men react similar, and that cis women and trans women react similar, when confronted with identical stimulus.

That's how you think.

Brain architecture is different.

Cis women and Cis men have different brains.

The shape and of a trans male brain may be superficially more similar to a cis male brain, but this study, despite that, says that a trans male brain thinks more like a cis female brain, and a trans female brain thinks more like a cis female brain, when suggests (proves) that gender is independent of biology.

Although that article you gave me about autopsied transender brains, said that Trans brains were a third, and fourth type of brain dissimilar from cis female and cis male.
Your brain isn’t separate from biology and gender is formed in the brain. It shows that sex and gender aren’t necessarily linked. It’s bizarre that you’re trying to keep the brain as being separate from the body.

Before they said that it is a genetic superpower that tracked with females genetically.

Now they are saying that it follows the female bloodline in families, mother to daughter.

Nia is a biological man, just like all trans women. That is factual.

However, Nia and trans women have the self-perception of seeing themselves as women mentally. That perception could explain the power transference.

It's could be brain-related, and not a chromosomal thing. Since the powers are cerebral.

I’m hoping that we will see Dain Cain as Superman for the Crisis event.

How would that work? Ignoring his Trump praising on Fox News and all of that... bringing Cain in as a Kryptonian in one universe.. while being a human in another? That's a stretch.

But still illogical enough to work for the writers of this show.

Nope. Modern science disagrees completely and it actually is backed up by factual evidence, unlike your claims.

Why so condescending? Which claims?

You're saying that Nia (or even Nicole Maines) weren't born as biological Males?

Your knowledge is like 10 years out of date.

A 2008 study compared 112 male-to-female transsexuals (both androphilic and gynephilic), mostly already undergoing hormone treatment, with 258 cisgender male controls. Male-to-female transsexuals were more likely than cisgender males to have a longer version of a receptor gene (longer repetitions of the gene) for the sex hormone androgen or testosterone, which reduced its effectiveness at binding testosterone.[3] The androgen receptor (NR3C4) is activated by the binding of testosterone or dihydrotestosterone, where it plays a critical role in the forming of primary and secondary male sex characteristics. The research suggests reduced androgen and androgen signaling contributes to the female gender identity of male-to-female transsexuals. The authors say that a decrease in testosterone levels in the brain during development might prevent complete masculinization of the brain in male-to-female transsexuals and thereby cause a more feminized brain and a female gender identity.[3][6]

Transwomen are consistently genetically distinct from Cismen.

I liked the ep, but am wondering why Alex is so tolerant of our friendly neighborhood Martian if she lost her "tolerant of aliens" perspective when she lost her memories of Kara being Supergirl.

Well, on the show Alex's attitude towards other aliens(excepting SG and MM) was originally harsher than this even with knowing Kara was an alien, until she met Maggie and started hanging out at the alien bar and seeing regular aliens in season 2, so this whole angle doesn't exactly track with the history of the show, though I get what they're going for.

Anyway, excellent episode, love Nia, heartbreaking what she had to go through, but glad she will be suiting up so soon.

Also, I do wonder where Lena learned Irish...

Well, it's not like this is an alternate-timeline Alex. It's Alex with certain memories erased and rewritten by J'onn. So her view of herself and her world is not going to be exactly, literally like what it would have been if Kara weren't an alien.

Trans are consistently genetically distinct from Cis.

So you regard transgender as a biological gender of it's own, alongside male and female?

Interesting. Whats debatable about that is humans are either born with Male or Female sexual organs. It's binary.

Your research suggests that being transgender is caused by the brain and hormone deficiency.

That still doesn't change a child from being born as specifically Male or Female. Do hospitals or the government note 'transgender' as an option during birth?

I have been getting my ass kicked over this for a couple weeks now, I assure you that you do not want to join this painful conversation.

So you regard transgender as a biological gender of it's own, alongside male and female?

Probably.

Whats debatable about that is humans are either born with Male or Female sexual organs. It's binary.

Intersex. Its not binary.

Your research suggests that being transgender is caused by the brain and hormone deficiency.

No, that's just one difference they found in one study, because they looked for that difference and found it. It's not a cause, it's a marker. Also, in 2019, copy and pasting part of a wikipedia entry is not research.

That still doesn't change a child from being born as specifically Male or Female. Do hospitals or the government note 'transgender' as an option during birth?

Babies are dummies.

Binaries do not exist in nature, science shows that it’s more of a blur with the majority tending to be at opposite ends and others in between. The idea of a binary is purely cultural and fairly recent based on historical records and various other civilizations.

Your ignorance on this subject is stunning. Perhaps doing a little research on the subject of intersex people and the wide range of alternatives therein would help a bit - if you're willing to learn.

Back to the actual topic, folks.

This thread will be temporarily closed to make sure everyone sees this notice. In a little while, it will be re-opened to allow further on-topic conversation. ;)

I wonder if Eliza was made aware. What about pictures from their childhood? A couple of them may show Kara using her superpowers, like holding up the couch while Eliza was vacuuming....
