Supergirl - Season Four

Which doesn't address my point. What has happened to give anyone the impression that Supergirl HAS a dual identity? Suddenly, everyone is dying to know, but with her face exposed, there's nothing to imply she's hiding anything. Why would people wonder who you are if they can see your face? It's an implication of a mask, but she doesn't have a mask, gives the impression she's not hiding.

I understand that we know she has an alternate life, but why would anyone in-universe? I'll just ignore that it's silly that no one can figure it out, since they've seen both Kara and Supergirl's faces, that's just a conceit you have to accept for the story.

In this case, the phrase "dual identities" means that Kara Danvers and Supergirl are both who Kara Zor-El is .

In other words, Kara Danvers is not a persona designed to "cover up" the fact that she is Supergirl, and the only reason she has not made it public knowledge that she is both Kara and Supergirl is because she wants to be able to have some semblance of a private life.

What Baker, as I understand things, wanted her to do is willingly give up her ability to have a private life by publicly disclosing the fact that she is both Kara Danvers AND Supergirl.

Right, when asked she should just say, My name is Kara Zor-El of the Planet Krypton.

Which wouldn't work for the government, since they'd need her to have formal identification under that name, immigration papers, a Social Security number, or whatever. Heck, the claim that she's a formal DEO employee is problematical, given that she would've needed to get a security clearance in order to work for the government, so the government should already know all her background information. It would've made more sense if they'd stuck with the idea that she was just a volunteer, a freelance superhero working with the DEO as an ally rather than a literal employee as they've claimed this season.

Couldn't she have gotten those under the Alien Amnesty Act?
I mean sure, she would be cheating the government by having two identities that way, but that would be one way of protecting her civilian identity...

But that's the question. Does she have identity papers as Supergirl as well as Kara Danvers? What I'm saying is that if she doesn't, then that would explain why the President regards her true identity as unknown -- because the government doesn't have a record of her real name. Yes, hypothetically, she could have alien identity papers, but the question isn't about the hypothetical, it's about whether she actually does in-universe.

It's fair to assume that Baker like Trump, get's his intelligence briefings from a national conservative morning news show, and then acts, before any one in his Government fact checks their hate speech.

Can't help but think that Nia's just as much a 1-season-gueststar who's immediately and unrealistically adopted into the family as Sam was last year... and will be quietly dropped at the end of it.

Speaking of, so what was up with Brainiac 5's slip of the tongue when he called her Nura? Was it just an accident on his part, or has Brainy figured out that Nia is actually destined to become Dream Girl, Nura Nal?

@Pheonix219 is probably on the ball, but we were told that once in a generation "some" of their women get dream powers, so even if the two women were direct descendants separated by only 30 generations, it's still blind chance as to whether Nia had Oneiromancy or not.

Yeah, I'd be quite un-surprised, if it turns out that Nia is related to Dream Girl, given Brainy's reaction when he first heard her name and now the reveal of the connection with dreams.

That a "twelfth-level intellect" would goof up somebody's name, though, caught my attention and made me wonder exactly what the reason for that was.

Good point about Sam.

Regarding Nia, unless the showrunners already had some sort of endgame planned for her character (e.g. something forcing her offworld or she ends up in the far future), I think she will be around until the end of the series. Reason: for Nicole Maines, unlike Odette Annable (the actress who portrayed Samantha/Reign) there was a significant publicity campaign about the actress in advance of this season, giving all indications that she's a permanent part of the cast.

The show could use another superbeing that's not from the future like Mon-El (who was fated to leave), or one who has become sort of meh like "finding myself / be like daddy" J'onn.

I think the idea is that Nia is the ancestor of Nura. And Brainy knows how her powers work because he knows Nia's descendant in the 31st Century.
