J'onn's stalking was a little creepy. No, a lot creepy.

They went to the The Thing well again.

They should show that trigger-happy agent the door, I sure as hell wouldn't work with that guy.

M'gann's business about being the monster and how beautiful green skin is seems an odd message to send. I get what they're trying but seems counter to body acceptance and what not that it seems like the kind of thing a show like this would nominally be in favor of.

I've thought that the Supers should be fast but have to take a sec to get up to speed to accommodate things like hostage situations. Or not have fine motor control from a dead stop or something like that. So from a run they can get in between a bullet and it's target but maybe not from a standstill.

Why is there a nuclear reactor in a building located in the heart of the city? Zoning laws in National City are weird.

That still doesn't make sense, as jilted hubby Martian would have to stop fighting Jonn, superspeed grab Winn, whiz him off to a secluded corridor on another floor(?), cocoon him to the ceiling, and get back in time for the lights to come back on??? And after the fire test reveal, Supergirl again hovers in the air (like when the President was being attacked) instead of flying down one floor to grab fake Winn so he can't scurry off...Has she forgotten she's as fast as the Flash?
I hate it when episodes force dumb moves like this on characters. There had to be better ways to make this The Thing homage work without depowering your lead.

I think the "Alex" that walked into the DEO was already a white Martian. They probably grabbed her early on, to pre-position themselves to attack M'gann & J'onn.

I rarely get annoyed when superheroes don't make full use of their powers and I generally like this show but this was the STUPIDEST episode of any superhero show I've seen in decades. Is there a speed dampening field in the DEO building? Supergirl should have searched the entire building in 2 seconds and found the "bad guys" and captives. As should have J'onn or M'gann. And two "heart to heart" talks while a nuclear reactor is going critical? (And why explode? Critical reactors melt down, they don't explode!)

I'm pretty forgiving of sci-fi shows for ridiculous things, but this episode was WAY over the top in idiocy, within its own rules.

I actually didn't mind that as the whole building was on Lockdown - and while Supergirl may have Superspeed; I don't think the mechanical locked down doors, etc. could be bypassed or open instantly.

Before we knew there was 2 White Martians, there was a scene where Supergirl was like how do we know Winn was even in the building even though she saw him and the 1st White Martian at the same time. It was like the writer wrote that bit of dialogue knowing there was two but forgot the audience n Supergirl herself didn't know at that point.

Also why the hell does it need a nuclear reactor? really , a little OTT and stupid for building located in the middle of a dam city. Despite that, I felt it was a good episode overall.

They keep all kinds of dangerous aliens there so they need to be self sufficient in case the city power grid goes down, and I imagine the power requirements for all that fancy containment stuff, holograms, training drones, medical thingamajigs and all are bigish.

Well, it's tiny, in normal non-lockdown circumstances I'm sure Kara or J'onn could fly it out to safety if it goes critical.

Even though she's basically just a "background character", I really like the show's take on Eve Teschmacher

I like the Kara/Mon-El pairing, but I'd really like it if the writers actually subverted expectations and made Mon-El/Eve relationship a permanent thing and not have her be just a short term obstacle.

I also can't wait for next week to see the return of Lena and Lillian

Now that Winn is off with James, Alex with Maggie, Mon-El with Eve and Kara is feeling lonely perhaps she could hang out with Lena a bit more, after all she's her only friend in National City...

I'm thoroughly desensitized to that from watching 2+ seasons of The Flash

I know this show is Supergirl and having another hero more powerful can kinda of take the gloss of the lead character but other than when Kara in S1 was under Red K influence has J'onn actually ever won any of his fights outright. Seems like he and even Mon-El are the resident punching bags when they engage in fisty cuffs which does bug me. They don't have to be more powerful but it would be nice to see them hold their own and win the odd one

I liked this episode for everything except the actual lock down scene. The action was good but I felt like I've seen scenes like that many times before and nothing new was brought to the table. Also the scene between Kara and fake Alex should have been saved for the end between Kara and real Alex. It felt like a cheat that we finally had a nice sisterly scene for the first time this calendar year and it was kind of a fake. I want more Kara/Alex scenes, but I want them to be real because this show thrives on it.

I also liked how M'Gann's arc ended and she didn't die but I hope we do see her again. She was a nice character.

The "nothing new brought to the table" applies to characterization in general on these shows - there's nothing ever unexpected or subtle about what they think or how they'll behave. Conversations like Kara's with Mon-El or the sister talk are TV boilerplate with no insight.

The Whedon shows ruined me for this stuff I suppose.

I'm not sure its the stupidest superhero episode aired in decades, but the PTB are rarely even flirtatious with logical plots, choosing to do anything for convenience...getting from A to B without any valid reason why.

That's the agenda of the showrunners--Supergirl must be the best / most powerful, while other characters are weakened to support that. I've mentioned this before, but the lead character can still come off as powerful and/or heroic, while other characters have greater strength, as in Captain America: Civil War, where the lead character is so well developed that he still stands tall while others (e.g. the Vision) are technically stronger in one way or another. But it appears the showrunners are not interested in that balance, so its "Supergirl is the best at everything!" which is unrealistic, even for the source material.

There's no sinister "agenda" as to why they don't use MM more, the main reason he doesn't go out to fight more is that CGI is expensive...

SG getting "knocked around" does not eliminate the fact all others are presented as weak compared to her. That's no accident or coincidence.

As to "presented as weak" next to her, I'm just not seeing it. You're comparing the times J'onn gets knocked down with the times Supergirl wins, but ignoring that she gets knocked down plenty as well. Just seems like cherrypicking to me.

Heck, the one time they actually fought each other, J'onn won.

Plus if you go by the DC comics material; I thought Martian Manhunter's strength was on par with Superman's - so you'd expect White Martians to at least be comparable.
