This Superman already feels more like Superman than the Snyder version did in two movies and I like that Hoechlin actually acted a bit differently as Clark than he did as Superman, the conversation he had with Perry was fun.

I can't wait for the season premiere.

Meanwhile, in our first look at Supergirl season 2 footage, it literally takes only 30 seconds before we see the Vancouver Central Library, standing in for a Metropolis building. It's like they did that on purpose to get the "Yes, we're in Vancouver now, folks" business out of the way.

Isn't it more likely they just thought it was an interesting looking building that fits into their version national city?

I think it starts in a month here so I guess I'll be trying to avoid too many spoilers.

As a rule, though, there's such a thing as the presumption of innocence. If you expect someone to be honest and they turn out to be lying, that's their fault. But if you assume they're lying and they actually aren't, then you're the one in the wrong. So giving others the benefit of the doubt is a basic part of just generally not being a jerk. If you're going to accuse someone of lying, it should be based on evidence, and "Well, some other person with a similar job lied once" is not evidence by any rational standard.

I always go in assuming the people in charge of these shows are telling the truth when they talk about what will or won't happen, but I also keep in mind that people have outright lied in similar situations before.
I was mainly just talking about people in general, not myself specifically.

First off, the scene was set in Metropolis, as I said. Second, I said it's like they did that, not that I literally believe they did. It's a rhetorical device to express my amusement. The library is one of the most famous and frequently-used landmarks in Vancouver-based productions, ubiquitous to the point of cliche, so it's amusing that it takes precisely 30 seconds to show up in the first Vancouver-based Supergirl footage we see. In fact, it's so on-the-nose that I believe it's at least possible that they did it on purpose, since they know a lot of their viewers are genre-savvy and used to spotting Vancouver locations by now. A possibility is not a certainty, of course, but I wouldn't be surprised.

Well it is the first time we are seeing a major city on this show that is not National City. Being Metropolis it makes sense they would lead with a distinctly unique new location. It will be interesting how they handle Vancouver locations after that when it mostly be representing National City. Not to mention Star City and Central City all on the same network. Plus the various times and locations on Legends.

Well it is the first time we are seeing a major city on this show that is not National City. Being Metropolis it makes sense they would lead with a distinctly unique new location.

Not so unique, though, when we've seen it more than once on Arrow and The Flash. (E.g. it was the restaurant where Barry and Patti Spivot had their romantic dinner.) It's kind of like opening a Star Trek episode with a scene filmed at Vasquez Rocks. (Which is what the 2009 Star Trek movie originally would've done, if they hadn't cut the Spock-birth scene and led with the Kelvin instead.)

It will be interesting how they handle Vancouver locations after that when it mostly be representing National City. Not to mention Star City and Central City all on the same network. Plus the various times and locations on Legends.

I'm hoping they'll make extensive use of their digital model of National City to give it a distinct look from the others. Apparently the skyline in the pilot-episode scenes on the Catco roof was digitally added, according to the FX reel that came out over the summer.

Well, NC is basically LA, but since it's usually a digital model, they may have modified it some. I don't know LA's skyline well enough to say for sure. It's surprising to see the Berlanti shows' behind-the-scenes FX reels and discover just how much of what looks like live-action cityscapes is actually all-digital.

I'm familiar with the US Bank tower -- it's pretty much the most recognizable building in LA's skyline -- but I don't remember it from Power Rangers. I mainly remember them using the Brandeis-Bardin Institute on top of Vasquez Rocks as the Command Center.

Come to think of it, I don't recall Supergirl ever visiting Vasquez Rocks during their first season. That's a bit surprising for a genre show filmed in LA.

The only person I have ever heard say "lickity split" (other than me?) is Arnold Judas Rimmer, although in Clark's defence, that did happen 3 million years into the future (or 200 years into the future?).

Which is of course a mirror of 70s Movie Lois telling Clark that he is not allowed to say "Keen".
