Super Streetfighter IV

Gryffindorian

Has anyone purchased this game for the X-Box 360 or PS3? Any interest?

I didn't even realize Capcom was going to do another edition more than a year after SF IV came out. This new version has a lower price ($39.99) and offers ten or so additional playable characters (returning and new). I really enjoyed playing SF IV although I didn't master the controls and some of the Ultra Combo moves. The trailers on YouTube are awesome, so I decided to pick it up today. I'm looking forward to playing it. :)

Just bought it. It's as awesome as ever. It's good to see fighters from other SF games make it in. I'm trying the new characters out.

I'm glad all the characters are unlocked out the box and the costumes I bought for SF4 are also available to SSF4.

I was very glad when I found out that all characters were unlocked from the start of the game. When I played SF4, I didn't even get as far as unlocking Gouken or Seth. I played for four hours last night and tried out the new character moves and combos. I like Juri (the tae kwon do expert), but the others (new and returning) have pretty weak moves, like Cody and Hakan.

It was nice to them to lower the price for this game.

Definitely worth the price. In fact, it's $20 cheaper than the original but about three times better in terms of gameplay. There are new on-line battle modes (like team battles), replay channels, etc.

I'm just holding back because I own the original. I still wish that they just made this DLC for 20 bucks or something instead of selling another disc, but oh well.

I heard they made Seth even CHEAPER though. I guess I'm never playing the single player if I ever get it.

i dunno i think the price is pretty fair, its almost a different game now, the way they rebalanced the existing characters with nerfs/buff of movesets and included a bunch of newer characters in addition to newer features on xbl/psn, its a DLC on crack is what it is and theres way too much data for it to just be a simple download so they had to release it on disc. i just got mine on friday right after work, and this past weekend ive been playing nonstop SSFIV.

While trying out the new guys I think I'm gonna try to main Cody to complement my Bison who was my main in Vanilla SFIV. His ultras are a bit weak (I'm guessing the damage scaling has a lot to do with that), but he's still a pretty viable character with fewer and simpler moves compared to the likes of Ibuki and Guy, maybe not so much him. Dudley is pretty awesome too. Its almost a damn uphill battle to use Makoto in any matchup. But yea Cody as my main and maybe I'll try out T-Hawk as well. He seems like a more mobile version of Zangief and of course Bison who is almost but not quite, godlike with his Ultra 2, especially in any matchups with projectile spammers because boy do i love to punish. (I'm looking at you Shotos/Sagat/Guile players, haha)

I stopped playing on-line because it didn't feel right that I was getting beaten by someone 20 years younger than me. :shifty: I didn't mind the super advanced players, but the others were just cheating with their repetitive moves.

lemme guess, shoryuken spamming? haha

i would suggest to learn how to properly block and try and guess what your opponent is gonna do.

XBL gamertag is: SH0GUN Rua (thats a zero not a "O") if you ever do wanna play online, and if you're on XBL of course.

Lately I've found myself delving into the history and characters of the Streetfighter series. I recently bought a book at Borders that illustrates all the major characters as rendered by professional artists and fans alike. I'm truly impressed by some of the "fan art" drawings and paintings.

While doing some on-line research on this game, I've found this wiki page that lists all the playable characters from the very first game all the way to SSF4. I noticed that a lot of the SSF4 characters were plucked from the Alpha series, like Guy, Adon, Makoto, etc. I wonder what factors the creators or developers of the game considered to pick the "returning" characters. For example, why pick Adon instead of, say, Elena, which would've been a more interesting character? Is there a chance some of the older characters (like Alex, Hugo, Oro, R. Mika) will be included in future releases of the game? Just a thought.

Anyone know when they're gonna release Turbo Street Fighter IV, Ultimate Street Fighter IV and Street Fighter IV 2? :)

Of course, is anyone here old enough to even get that?

Haha yea I get it. This is supposedly the last version, any additional upgrades will be via DLC such as additional characters and balance tweaks. So far I'm loving this game. All my gaming time has been predominantly playing this on xbl

Let's see. I'm waiting for Streetfighter IV Alpha, Streetfighter IV EX, Streetfighter IV: New Generation. :p

ObiWan, so we're not going to to see Streetfigther V and beyond? Bummer. I don't really like DLC, especially stuff I have to pay for. What CAPCOM ought to do in the future is release an Ultimate or Deluxe edition containing all playable characters from all incarnations of the game and perhaps have a chance to custom-create your own player (in terms of the fighting skills and appearance). But I can see this is more likely to be done as a PC rather than a console game.

I wouldn't necessary say ever. I meant Super will be the only version of part IV, instead of having Super Street Fighter IV Turbo: Championship Edition. As far as an anthology game goes. That what the Mugen games are for. The only reason why there is a limited character base for this game and Vanilla 4 are because this game involved 3D models instead 2D sprites plus the balancing on the game would take a while. It would be cool to have a legit anthology game though.
