Sunshine?

Thinking of buying this on blu-ray later today. Reviews are mixed and I was wondering if anyone here had seen it? Or should I just watch Serenity again?

If you go to the Sci Fi and Fantasy forum, you can probably find a dozen threads on this movie. Of course, they'd all be spoiler-filled.

On Blu-ray it looks and sounds awesome. Two thirds of the movie are pretty cool though.

I own the movie on Blu-ray and it looks absolutely stunning. And like Aragorn said, 2/3 of the movie are good. The ending... well, now that I know about it I don't dislike it as much as I used to.

Can't comment on the quality of it on Blu-Ray but it looked good in the cinema. If you know about the twist towards the end and you're prepared for it you may enjoy it. overall I'd say it's a fair film.

Kinda like Event Horizon, but without sembalance of a plot, and at least in EH, the reasoning kinda made sense. Sunshine just does it because they don't know how to end the movie, and it would be boring it everything just worked fine...

It's a solid sci-fi film for 2/3 of the film, then turns in to a horror movie for no apparent reason. Some people who've been prepared for the change say they love the film. Others are just disappointed with the ending. I wouldn't say no one wants to say it because plenty of people have, you just have to check the numerous SF&F threads to see that.

Me too. Hated the ending, don't really plan on seeing it again, but I'd say it's fairly a fair film if you average out the horrible ending with the promising start.

Sunshine is awful for me but i still recommend to rent it(for free if you can) so you can judge it for yourself. If you like it then buy it on blu-ray.
In my view the plot is just stupid from the start to finish and makes no sense. The movie looks good, with decent actors and visual effects.

Just to echo previous sentiments; the movie is, IMO, worth getting on Blu Ray. Visually, it's probably the most stunning movie that I've seen on the format so far. It was impressive enough in SD DVD, but on HD, it's almost a work of art. The audio is impressive as well.

The movie itself, yeah, two thirds are very, very good. Regretably, the final act is a major let down. If you can get past that, and the rather obvious Event Horizon comparisons, you might enjoy it.

The movie is like a surrealistic painting of lights and darks, visually magnificent and breath-taking. Which helps gloss over a rather ... limited plot. BluRay? Go for it.
