'Celebrate Summer' by Marc Bolan and T. Rex, the last single released before his untimely death.
Mungo Jerry l In The Summertime
Done by a few artists but this was my introduction to the song
I don't know that there's every been a band with as much personality per member as Sly and the Family Stone
The Witty One, The Cute One, The Quiet One, and The Funny One might have something to say about that.
As HUGE a Beatles fan as I was and am, I'm going to agree with you here. The Fab 4 were unquestionably the greatest band of the rock era, but their onstage performance consisted almost exclusively of smiles and occasional head shaking. Now, off stage they were incredibly personable and funny, but onstage, compared to an act like Sly, the Beatles were kinda dull.Yeah, they might agree with me! Beatles live performing is fun to watch but compared to a high-energy mixed-race, mixed-gender seven-piece with a horn section, trading vocals and ad libs, I mean, really?![]()
Didn't know this and I am really sorry to hear it.But since last summer, probably the coolest trumpet player in rock and roll history, Cynthia Robinson, has died. Rest in soul power!
Since last summer, I discovered that these one-hit wonders hailed from my birthplace!
I saw Sly once many years ago and the show was electric. Sly and his brother were all over the stage. It was wild, especially so back in the 70's.
Oh yeah. John was fond of Hitler impersonations and wearing a toilet seat.By the time they were famous, they couldn't even hear themselves play, so they'd run through their set list in double time to get out of there. But from the things I've read, the Beatles in Hamburg would have been something to see.
