Summer of Australian Cricket - 2009/10

So at the moment with the first test against the West Indies on day 2 after lunch are 7 for 421. I'm thinking Australia can get up to around 500 runs before tea time or just after. And then send West Indies in to bat for 25 to 30 overs.

We desperately need a division system. Games like this do nothing to help the best form of the game maintain its popularity.

^ That would help, as would putting more money into West Indies Cricket. There is the talent there.

In this current Adelaide game, I'm hoping the West Indies can score at least 250 runs to 350 runs. Currently 3 for 143 half way through the day 1.

Yet again we've demonstrated our inability to finish off an innings. The Windies tail performed well but I'm wondering of this current crop of bowlers is ever going to be capable of mopping up tailenders.

Good for Watson on not managing to be out lbw for a change. :p And so far, the much-touted umpire referral system has been a bit of a joke.

Edit: Really, really dumb shot by Watson. Talk about throwing away a hundred.

Of course, the journalists who were writing off the Windies, the series and Test cricket in general have now gone mysteriously quiet on this issue.

How unusual.

Nothing unusual about our inability to bowl sides out, either. Siddle's injury is unfortunate but Johnson is still bowling far too much crap for an international player.

I can't see us winning from here.

So with a hour to go. We have 5 wickets left (and probably only 30 minutes of TV here in NSW). Hopefully sometime in the future the cricket will have it's own digital channel with 9. Or Nine have a sports channel like Ten too.

Johnson's bowling was a lot better in the second innings, but Bollinger was my pick of the bowlers. With the injury to Siddle, it will be interesting to see who they bring in.

It was interesting to learn that Katich isn't 100% fit, either. Hopefully that's a very short-term thing.

Johnson still bowls too much garbage (his first ball to one new batsman yesterday was a half-tracker about a metre outside off stump - not exactly threatening). Bollinger looks the goods but we need to find someone who can knock over a tail in short order. And yeah, it'll be very interesting to see who replaces Siddle. Hilfenhaus has an injury that requires rather more than a couple of weeks to get rid of; Clark seems to be out of favour with the geniuses on the selection panel; and an article I read somewhere the other day pointed out that there are a lot of injured bowlers around the country just now. There aren't a lot of options out there.

Kudos to the Windies for fighting back in this Test. A few journalist know-alls have ended up with egg on their faces; that's never a bad thing.

Also add Lee to the injuried list too. But it will probably be Clint McKay would make his test debut in Perth.

Ponting possibly gone for Boxing Day. Shame that Hodge is injured (and retired), or he might have been a chance.

Looks like we've scraped out a win in the third Test.
