STXI comes back to IMAX for a limited time

I wonder if those lines were maybe out-takes with the actors using more emphasis than they had to. But I also remember reading in the Star Trek mag that Quinto mentioned that the "debate" scene at the Starfleet Academy was much longer and more intense when originally filmed - so the line might have been taken from that take.

I would love to see that scene on the extended DVD, but I wonder if they will bother.

I went to the Friday night, 11:45pm show at Newport on the Levee and I was the only one there! My own personal IMAX screening.

I went Sunday at 10:15 and there were about 15 people total - but this IMAX screening was incredible - MUCH, MUCH better than the other time at that venue. I actually had to sit back more rows because the sound was coming thru my body! BTW, this was the first movie I saw there that was in DLP and it made a BIG difference.

BTW, Bill, how did ya like it?

It is definitely the definition of a big, dumb, summer popcorn flick. But it also has it charms. And it is stunning when watching on IMAX (especially when you're alone).

Funny enough, my ticket for the IMAX show I went to last week actually says "Star Trek - IX"

Something else i noticed during the "Imax" viewing over the weekend: i finally caught Randy Pausch with "We have visual sir". In fact, it looks like he quickly walks past Robau twice, once saying the line and another time silent. I just can't remember which was first...but its like maybe they used the clip twice.

OY! I cannot wait to have this dvd in my grubby little hands. I am going to go over this sucker with a fine tooth comb! And love every second of it!!

Well, I didn't end up getting to go again after all. The only night I could do it I was way too tired. Ah well, wait for the DVD I suppose.

I had a tough choice. In Chicago, and less than a mile from my home, was a mini convention at a theatre where they were also showing TWoK and TSfS. Shatner was originally supposed to be there but he punked out so tickets dropped from $89 down to $25. At the same time, STXI came back to IMAX. I could've gone either way but my family wanted to go to the IMAX showing. My boys and I love the story and the action, my wife still cries during Jim's birth, and my daughters love Anton Yeltson. This was the 3rd time we saw it in IMAX and the 9th time we've all seen it. We're all looking forward to the BD release in November.

Hmmmm...well Bill ended up showing at the horse show I manage in Indianapolis instead of appearing in Chicago...he did very well BTW.
