STXI comes back to IMAX for a limited time

What is really annoying is that i don't think they are using the theater at all throughout the day (for any other film)...so why run this one so late??
Going by this, it looks they're showing something called "Under the Sea 3D" at 12:25 and 2 PM, and then Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince: The IMAX Experience at 3:30 and 6:55. With previews and commercials figured in, the second HP showing is going to let out a little before 10, so that leaves them time for about one two-hour movie.

I saw it today, it was 12:30p. Not as full as the opening week but a nice amount of people filling the whole middle section. And the cool thing was, these were fans. When I went to the dollar show two weeks ago, no one laughed at the right moments, or ooh'd and ahh'd. A few even left before the film ended. Today, we had laughter, awed silences, and I think the lady behind must have never seen it before, because she was really enjoying it.

IMAX is great, although it seemed louder than the first time I saw it. The sound made me feel like my heart was palpitating but when I left, I felt fine. Must have been the decibal level creating vibrations.

IMAX has that effect.

When the wife and I saw it on IMAX, that was the same reaction we had. The sound is incredibly loud. And Star Trek XI already has extremely loud sound design—a guy can't slap someone's arm without it sounding like an explosive just went off. Add the IMAX gut-rumbling sound, and it's quite something! It might even have been painful, if I'd not already compromised my ears by standing two feet away from raging 100W guitar amps for over a decade. It does put you in the moment and get your heart racing, that's for sure.

The great thing is that even tho' it will blow your ears off with the loud sounds, IMAX will also pick up the IMHO very subtle nuances - the "questioner's" voice when young Spock reciting, the chimes (either from the lessons ended or wind chimes) when Sarek talks with young Spock, the music and cleaning equipment when Kirk and Pike are at the bar, etc. Today was only the 4th time in IMAX, but I wanted to really "catch" certain scenes. First on the list was the 2nd scene of Vulcan and the "interesting" shape of the vehicle taking off to the right of the screen. Then there is a possible goof - still not too sure - but today's viewing it looks possible. It's when Prime comes out of the Jellyfish after Nero captures the craft - the camera pans downward but before look up into the cockpit - it looks like someone is in the command chair (possibly Quinto waiting to do a scene or a Prime double). I have STILL not seen R2-D2 - I know where it should be at - but I guess I'll have to wait until the DVD comes out.

I've been to four of these IMAX things in the last year and every time they IMAX presentation starts, it scares the living shit out of me. I know it's coming, but I never seem to know exactly when, but they start with a sudden blast of sound. Kinda tired of it, actually...

Yay! It's coming back to the IMAX where I saw it the first time. Looks like I get to see it again.

Only a handful of people showed up for the show. I'm guessing because it was so late at night.

It's going to be at 9:40 here for all showings. That's good for me, because I don't always get off work early enough to see a show.

I saw it at the IMAX again last night; there were about 10 viewers present. I actually expected we would be the only two on a Monday night at 9:30. But it was great! I hadn't seen it in over a month, so it was nice to have a fresh look. It was my 21st viewing.

21st?! Wow... Paramount ought to give you a free copy of the film on DVD & Blu-Ray for that kind of dedication.

I was definitely surprised to see 40-50 people last night at the Bridge for my 11th viewing (6th IMAX). They don't have any signs anywhere showing that Trek is playing.

I am curious if anybody that visits this board has gone to it more than Jeri, or do we give you the Gold medal for most viewings in theater.

I think KittyDuran may be past 30 viewings by now.

:whistle:Who me??? ;)

OK, I confess...

35 times (but only 4 times in IMAX)

I just checked the movie theaters in my local area, and its playing today and tommrrow! I'm thinking of maybe seeing it again. I have seen the movie already 8 times so if I do see it again, it will be my 9th! I know I might be crazy seeing it again but I can't help it! Anyways seing it again will keep me busy as I'm off today, and don't have a lot money to go alot of places until payday. At least I wont have to stay home all day and do nothing. I'll just have to wait and see.

Oh, yeah; I gave KittyDuran the hair shirt a long time ago.

But -- I think I still may hold the local crown for most times viewed in IMAX at 16.
