Stupid aliens

Most ridiculous TNG season 1 aliens?

Greed, pure capitalism & male chauvinism.

One of these things is not like the other, one of these things just doesn't belong.

Took 'em ten years to realize it.

On the other hand, the Flying Monkey-like antics, while distracting and not particularly dignified, I suppose, never bothered me so much. It's to be expected that aliens would not have human body language and likely would often come off as distracting and undignified, much in the same way my cats do when they lick the other ends of their digestive tracts.

Armin Shimerman is still thanking the Blessed Exchequer in the Divine Treasury that Ferengi were not conceived as cat people.

i never had a problem with *any* of these aliens.

now, clara - the terrifying imaginary-friend child-alien from season 5? that's a stupid alien.

I really do wonder why they thought having the Ferengi being these sniveling, over-acting, trolls howling at the sound of thunder would be a good enemy. Keep in mind the intent was that they'd replace the Klingons as a foe and that the "they'll find you tasty as their last business partner" line Picard says was meant to be taken literaly.
Stipulating that the Ferengi were a lame threat species, you know what really sucked about the Ferengi being a lame threat species?

We never got to see those awesome Marauders do anything cool after the first couple of seasons of TNG, especially and most unfortunately once the VFX technology matured to the point they could have shown them doing something really cool. I kept waiting on DS9 for a flotilla of Marauders to join the Allies and take on a Dominion battleline, but it never happened. :(

Yeah, and the Maurader is a pretty nifty looking ship design and, IIRC, is supposed to be able to stand toe-to-toe with a Galaxy Class.

I agree about the views with the Ferengi. How could they be established as a threat when they act so goofy at the same time.

It's like they came up with the idea, and then quickly changed their minds while still writing and airing it!

Another vote for me is actually-Human colonists.

Have you ever seen the episodes where the wayward colonists are told their planet is about to be destroyed by an asteroid or the colony obliterated and they stubbornly refuse to listen?

Even when Starfleet offers help, they refuse because Starfleet is an "outsider". So they sit around and do nothing telling themselves "there is no threat".
