i agree with all you are saying ,plus the sound for tos was used well on the bridge, spock saying fascinating. the look of kirk on the transport pad as spock kissed uhura was pricless . The part where kirk says to bones who is that pointed ear bastard and bones saying 'i dont know i like him ' was great all in all i loved this new trek and will be go to see it for a third time

Loved:

Quinto as Spock. Wow.

Loved a lot of other stuff, too. :D But that kinda sticks out in my mind.

Quinto's performance is definitely something I'm going to need to watch the movie again for. I was too busy watching everything else, I didn't pay him enough attention.

Me too. Especially the whole sequence before the destruction of Vulcan.

I liked everything that has been mentioned so far in this thread, but my absolute favorite is the shiny new technology presented in the film. Everything looked and sounded great. I especially liked how the phasers changed from stun to kill settings. Good stuff!

I noticed Friday during my 4th go around how graceful the shuttles are when the land on the Enterprise in the shuttle bay. They just look so majestic, and reminded me of a woman settling down in a chair in a ballgown and arranging her skirt.

When Spocked turned down the offer at the Vulcan Science Academy and chose Starfleet instead. I cheered.
Yep. :) The way he said "Live long and prosper"... Sounded so much like something else.
I loved it. Very well delivered.

And the fact that they made the music of the following bar scene begin right after his words only added to the effect

I've said this elsewhere but the French guy dubbing Quinto as Spock is the same who dubbed him as Sylar and I swear that this is the only time in the movie when he actually sounded like Sylar and not Spock (even after during the tense moments on the bridge) :D

Funny, I don't remember that. And I usually pay attention to soundtrack. I don't remember much from this one, probably because it was well done, not intrusive. I remember thinking it wasn't too heavy. :) Anyway, you're referring to "in" sound, right? (Music played in the bar.)

:guffaw: Excellent. (Not that I remember Sylar's French voice. I saw most of Heroes in English. Even TF1 boadcasts original versions of CSI and Heroes on cable now. ...If you don't mind the subtitles not working.)
Hope you get to see the movie in English, though.

Cripes, I can't read 11 pages of stuff... so if they've been said before, so be it:

McCoy! Urban was phenomenal as a copy/dupe/homage/whatever of the original. Had some funny lines, too.

Special effects. Wonderful.

Nero: barely seen in the film, and sold short by time constraints, and probably had a lot of backstory cut. but I'm interested in him, and he was compelling, even while seeming to be Khan II.

I don't think there was a single original item in the film, or at least, even within Star Trek canon we can find "hey, they did that in XXXXX." But I still loved the film.

Pike. Pike. Pike.

It struck me because the beginning of the bar music has a bit of a badass tone going on and it begins just after "prosper". It sort of gives a "take that, you *beep*" vibe to the phrase

I've watched the whole first season only and in French so I immediately recognised the voice. I have to say that I was a bit worried I'd have Sylar's flashes for the reminder of the movie after that Council scene but the Sylar tone never came back. The dubbing guy did a great job and only slipped once.

Probably not exactly a slip. Just his badass tone, as you put it. Or on purpose.

I LOVED Nero. Let me explain... I'm the first to admit that, in my opinion, he was a cliched villian and not very well written. But I think Eric Bana's portrayal of him was fantastic. I love the way he speaks.

In particular, when he's about to capture the Jellyfish and says, "Welcome home, Sp-hock."

Also when he's torturing Pike and responds to Pike's theory that Romulus is still out there and says (I forget the exact quotation), "Don't tell me it's out there. It's not out there. I saw it happen." (Does anyone know the exact line?)

Also when Young Spock in the Jellyfish is heading toward a collison with the Nardia, and he screams, "Fire everything!"

I think Bana's portrayal of Nero was almost childlike, but in a good way. It reminded me of F. Murray's portrayal of Ruafo in Insurrection. Very effective! I get chills every time he says these lines.

yeah, he had me at "Hellooooooooooo!"

besides, even tattooed and all, the guy is plain eye candy.

Nero asking to have Pike fly over to the Narada to negotiate. We knew what this portended, but the characters didn't. Scary stuff.

At the very least Pike, Spock, and Kirk did.

Spock would have assumed the logical outcome. But Kirk & Pike KNEW. Kirk had read Pike's dissertation.

I love this thread!

Short answer? Everything but the Corvette scene.

Long answer? Pretty much everything in the preceeding 259 posts.
