So then, ultimately... what studios are learning... SDCC isn't the end all be all of projects... Geeks, take note.
Yep but it's still publicity. It's just not make or break.

It IS. But, then, what they might be learning, you don't have to spend as much MONEY on this... you're having to get the stamp of approval.
The box office results aren't telling them to do this, so why should they?Or movie studios could invest in decent writers to produce decent movies and not invest all the money in stars and SFX
Or movie studios could invest in decent writers to produce decent movies and not invest all the money in stars and SFX.. just a thought.
Even if they do, fans of this genre (generally the majority of people who go to these things) can be completely unpleasable and piss in the cereal of an otherwise potentially good movie because of some stupid minor thing (such as how a costume looks).
About Trek 09... it got my brother and sister-in-law into the theater and they thought it was awesome. And they've never watched Trek! They got a glimpse into my world and I confess, I liked the film too!
Is this is Doctor Who effect where one thing was once liked, then we wait a few years and now the popular opinion has been reversed?

I just started nuDoctor Who not too long ago and am totally obsessed with it now. I just finished Tennant's era and wow what a send off.
People keep making this claim that Dr. Who is losing popularity, but, I don't think the facts bare this out.I think Tomalek might be referring to the current Moffat and Smith era, which isn't quite as popular and ratings winning as the RTD/Eccleston/Tennant years. I like Smith, but not really a fan of Moffat's plotting. ( I think he was better as a once-a-season writer). Then again, the show's been on for nearly seven years, so franchise fatique had to set in at some point.
Or alternatively, the older show's popularity until the John Nathan Turner/Colin Baker/McCoy years.

Have you seen all of Donna's episodes, or just her introduction in Runaway Bride? After Runaway Bride, though, "Thank God that Screecher left after jsut the one special, couldn't handle dealing with that every week", but, then she came back for a full Series, and I grew to love her character and was sorry to see her go.I liked Rose, liked Martha, but didn't care much for Donna.I hear Amy and Rory are good though.
Oh, well, if you saw her in S4, then yea, you just don't like her.Yeah I saw Runaway Bride and all of season 4 and the specials after that. She kind of grew on me and her story arc was well done, but ultimately the abbrasiveness of her personality bugged me. I can totally see why she is that way though with how her mother is, haha.
Like I mentioned above, I just wrapped Tennants arc and what appears (for now) all the other characters that came from the Eccleston/Tennant run. The send off for all of those characters was amazing. And I had watched Being Human prior to starting Doctor Who and it was pretty cool to see George and Nina in the same episode (The End of Time part 2) even though they didn't share the same scenes.
