I am drooling.

REL, what part of the world are you in? I'm a photographer, and I'd love to get some photos of this once it's finished!

What is nice about your build is that you could place different power-pack/shuttlebay variants on those two back rails.

Indeed - or a dedicated, high-yield weapons platform - it actually implies some kind of modular architecture that didn't ever seem to be a part of the original design, but clearly still works very well.

I decided to cast the main body in fiberglass, the vac formed body wasn't working out too well so that's the reason for the lack of progress, but it's together now. Now goes the process of filling in seams, putty and sanding etc.

Amazing work! Is this just a hobby, or is your job also related to this kind of work?

Wow. A nearly completed super-amazing Star Trek model being held by a pretty girl in a really clean house. Man, you're living the dream!

Starting the work on the rear of the ship. I made a heavy duty rolling stand for mounting purposes, it's just sitting on the stand now, not bolted in so it's a little lopsided in the pics.
