Stray cat stuck in my house

If it's a stray call the local (city or county) animal control people. Your tax money at work!

I called animal control and they gave me a spring-loaded trap. Lured it in with a can of tunafish. Poor thing was terrified.

Turns out it's a neighbor's cat (well, sorta. Stray, raised by neighbors). I brought it to their backyard, let it go, and it bolted and hid under a deck. Still, it's out of my house and has food. Hopefully it'll be OK in time.

I'd board up that hole in the roof before you find a litter of kittens one day.

A few months ago I posted at TrekBBS about the "Roof Kittens"; at this place I go to, you could see the roof of another building from the place's is secodn story. There was a mother cat and two kittens there. The mother cat climbed up a tree and had the kittens living up there, and they were crawling in & out of a hole in the roof.

And imagine them pooping and peeing in your roof ... cover the hole.

Or falling down an interior wall and dying. That happened to my ex-wife's sister, only it was baby raccoons. Stunk up the house for quite some time until the source was located.

Obviously, you need to call Alf...didn't he used to eat cats? After all those years of not having a job on NBC, he should appreciate a free meal

You need to order some traps, because the cat is just going to find his way back into your house.

Duke #1 coil-spring trap info.

They're only $55 for a dozen traps, so you can cover your attic, your basement, and all around your yard. If the cat proves too clever to trap, you should get a 410 or 20 gage shotgun and blast at any noises you hear through the drywall.

A few months ago I had a stray black cat wandering into our yard. It turns out he was found starving in the woods of Eastern Kentucky and rescued by a neighbor who is allergic to cats. I didn't have any guns or traps handy so now he lives on my chest or tummy and purrs all day. Sometimes he moves down to my legs so I can use the lapto, and sometimes he sits beside me staring at my rabbits.

A few days ago Erigeron (a lop-eared buck) decided that kitty was sexy. He would tackle kitty and try to make out while kitty wailed at me plaintively before struggling free and finding a defensible position. Then kitty would bop bunny on the head, hold him at bay with a paw held out, and meow "talk to the hand!"

So unless you want to end up like this, order the traps.

Looks like my cat's evil twin.
