I'm soooo excited! I'm not surprised we didn't get much new footage but they still did a great job ramping up the excitement.

I'm a bit bummed that it's spread out over three releases...but I'm also relieved, too? As much as I'm accustomed to Stranger Things coming out in single big releases, I'm glad to have it spread a bit. Plus, I'm happy that most of us will be on the same page once the finale is released.

Mark your calendars! I can't wait. :D

In addition to the trailer, we also have a full synopsis for the season (courtesy of Tutum):

“The fall of 1987. Hawkins is scarred by the opening of the Rifts, and our heroes are united by a single goal: find and kill Vecna. But he has vanished — his whereabouts and plans unknown. Complicating their mission, the government has placed the town under military quarantine and intensified its hunt for Eleven, forcing her back into hiding. As the anniversary of Will’s disappearance approaches, so does a heavy, familiar dread. The final battle is looming — and with it, a darkness more powerful and more deadly than anything they’ve faced before. To end this nightmare, they’ll need everyone — the full party — standing together, one last time.”
Plus the entire cast:

Winona Ryder (Joyce Byers), David Harbour (Jim Hopper), Millie Bobby Brown (Eleven), Finn Wolfhard (Mike Wheeler), Gaten Matarazzo (Dustin Henderson), Caleb McLaughlin (Lucas Sinclair), Noah Schnapp (Will Byers), Sadie Sink (Max Mayfield), Natalia Dyer (Nancy Wheeler), Charlie Heaton (Jonathan Byers), Joe Keery (Steve Harrington), Maya Hawke (Robin Buckley), Priah Ferguson (Erica Sinclair), Brett Gelman (Murray), Jamie Campbell Bower (Vecna), Cara Buono (Karen Wheeler), Amybeth McNulty (Vickie), Nell Fisher (Holly Wheeler), Jake Connelly (Derek Turnbow), Alex Breaux (Lt. Akers), and Linda Hamilton (Dr. Kay)
Several things to note: We finally know the name of Linda Hamilton's character! I wonder why we don't get her full name...unless that's the only name she has.

Curiously, joining the cast is Alex Breaux, who is currently playing Dr. Brenner in the Broadway version of The First Shadow. I imagine that's just either a coincidence or a Broadway casting decision made by someone who had seen his performance in this season, although I don't know how directly involved the Duffer Brothers are with either stage production.

Notably absent is Paul Reiser's Dr. Sam Owens. While I'm fine with him not being part of the main cast, I hope he appears in at least one episode.

Lastly, in case anyone needs a reminder (I had to look her up myself), Vickie is the girl Robin had a crush on in the high school band. I can't remember if we knew she was returning or not, but her listing her seems to indicate a significant role. Likewise, it appears, Holly Wheeler.

Man... three-and-a-half years between seasons is just too much.

By the time this is over, it will have taken nearly a decade to make forty-something episodes. Just crazy.

It will be 9 years since the show started this July. When Stranger things was first getting going, Orange is the New Black and House of Cards were still new episodes. I'll watch this season of Stranger things, but much as I felt with the Arrowverse shows like Flash, ST really did ware out it's welcome. The long episode runtimes also do not help.

To each their own. I have no issues with waiting for a show that I love this much.

As for the episode count, I think they're just fine. Probably helps that I've grown more and more accustomed to the British model of fewer episodes of greater quality over many episodes with lesser quality. I also think that many people don't really understand the extent of actual work that goes into productions like these, doubly so for a show that has a number of children in the cast.

It's not the episode count. It's the episode runtimes of like 90 minutes or more. I even read this morning that the finale is going to be 2 and a half hours (That may not be true, just have to wait and see). This show doesn't really need a 2 and a half hour series finale.

I don't have an issue with the runtime.

And you don't know that it doesn't need that runtime. They're deliberately going with the cinematic feel with the last couple of seasons and I love that idea. As long as the content warrants the runtime, I'm all for it.

Where did you see that news?

The series promises “new mysteries” and “new monsters.” In the footage we saw some of the upside-down vines in the real world with a pumpkin head on top of them that was alive.

The series features CG animation. It’s not hand drawn like '80s cartoons.- I already confirmed before that the series would include 3D animation! :)

"Stranger Things: Tales From '85" will premiere in 2026

About two minutes of footage of "Tales of 85" have been shown along with a pre-recorded video message from the Duffer Brothers, and they were very guarded about saying too much.

The first footage of the show was shown to paneli as an ‘exclusive.’ It looks like there’s still time for Netflix to share it online.

No trailer for Tales from 85 (which isn't surprising considering it's not out until next year) but The Wrap published a great overview of the panel that covers what to expect from the show:

The series is set between the second and third seasons, with all of your favorite “Stranger Things” characters, along with a new character named Nikki (who is described as a “tinkerer”). As Eric Robles, the showrunner and executive producer, said in the clip, “Something is brewing in Hawkins.” The sinister vines from the Upside Down are poking through in Hawkins and creating all sorts of crazy monsters and other general unease. “There’s going to be something for everyone,” promised Robles.
The official synopsis reads: “Welcome back to Hawkins in the stark winter of 1985, where the original characters must fight new monsters and unravel a paranormal mystery terrorizing their town.”
Additionally, the Duffer Brothers said they want to "evoke the feeling of an ‘80s cartoon" (clips of The Real Ghostbusters and Beetlejuice were played during their pre-recorded video). Some animation from the series was shown but I don't expect we'll see anything anytime soon as per usual with panels like this one. Based on the descriptions, the actual animation will be more computer generated than hand-drawn styling of the Saturday 80s cartoons, but considering the studio who is producing it gave us What If...? and Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur, I'm still excited for it.

No word on the voice cast but I wouldn't be surprised if no one from the live-action show will return, which I'm fine with. Better to have child actors or professional voice actors who can emulate child voices to provide the voices than having the old cast return with their voices completely different. Besides, different actors for the cartoons is a hallmark of Saturday 80s cartons anyways.

Yeah, I'd prefer that too. As fun as it can be when actors come back to voice characters decades later, it can be weird to hear the actors present day voice coming out of an animated version of their younger self.

Those attending the panel on social media stated that the series' animation style was inspired by recent Spider-Man animated films and 'arcane' animation.
If it is going to be a show with the visual style of 'Arcane' and the latest 'Spider Man' animations, it should have a high budget. I hope it will not be a TV series that will come out at certain intervals and take 10 years to complete.
