Strange New Worlds season 3 on DVD

A heads up:

On December 8th CBS Home Video announced a release date of March 3, 2026 for DVD, Blu Ray and 4K editions of Strange New Worlds Season 3. Yaay! That said, for at least a month now listings on Ebay and Amazon show DVD and Blu Ray copies of SNW season 3 already available for purchased. Against better judgement I purchased one from an Ebay listing. Having received the item I am pretty sure these are bootleg discs. The menus are low quality and have the options "Play All", "Episodes" and "Resume Film". The menu backgrounds-taken directly from the Season 3 poster are noticeably low quality. Also the set labels (case and disc labels) do not list the episode names. The labels on the 3 discs are the same as the case label (the poster), instead of the standard grey and silver labels on other CBS DVD releases. The back of the DVD case label shows a very generic blurb about the series that has nothing specific to do with season 3, and is in fact taken verbatim from the Strange New Worlds Season 3 Wikipedia article. The UPC number and barcode are bogus, any searches I have done on the UPC number have come up empty. When played, the discs immediately start with the menu, not the CBS DVD logo and copyright notice as is standard with official CBS DVD releases.

My advice: unless you are really desperate for the episodes on DVD, avoid this set and wait for the real thing to release in March.

So listings are up on Amazon for preorder. It looks like if you want steelbook you have to get the UHD 4K version. Blah. I like the steelbooks. They're pretty. They don't fall apart in a few years like the plastic boxes for DS9 have. I'd like them all to match. But I don't currently have any way to play UHD 4k, and I didn't particularly want to buy an upgraded monitor and amplifier.

A few months ago, when I saw some spurious-looking ones for sale by an independent seller on Amazon, I first verified (right here on TrekBBS) that there hadn't been an official release without my knowledge, and then reported it to Amazon.

As all of you may remember, SNW season 3 was supposed to come out on Blu-ray, DVD, and 4k (steelbook) tomorrow. I had pre-ordered the 4k edition back in December 2025, and it was scheduled to be delivered tomorrow. Today I got a notification from Amazon that delivery would be delayed until next Monday. It did me a lot of good to pre-order the set so early, didn't it?

I am usually happy to wait for sets turn up in my local DVD/Bluray store. I tend to go for the Bonus Features first, which are never on bootlegs.

Canadian Amazon won't even allow pre-orders, simply saying it's unavailable. I'm actually noticing this with a lot of DVD/Blu-rays on Amazon here lately.

Mine is still showing tomorrow for delivery.

Here in the UK its been out over a week. I'm up to episode ten and the special features on the Blu-Ray. I would have thought it would have come out the day after us since new DVDs/Blu Rays/4Ks drop on a Monday here and so it should have come out last Tuesday. Unless it wound up with the Enterprise B's tractor beam and photon torpedoes.

I cancelled my Amazon order and placed an order with bullmoose.com, whose site shows the 4k steelbook being in stock. (Also, no sales tax, at least here in Alabama. :) )

Is the steel book 4k only?

amazon canada, the non 4k Blu-ray is only being sold/shopped by a third party seller, amazon themselves only have the DVD and 4k Steelbook

Walmart only has DVDs
