How many watches are we all on.
I'm on 3. Thought it would have gotten to 4 yesterday but I got caught up in something

This episode = 1.31046 times. Tried a second time to see if I was wrong to rate it a 3, but I fell asleep almost a third of the way in and probably won't watch it again. (still rating it a 3).

SNW series in general = 4-5 times, some episodes more than that. I never really counted them.

I rewatched a bit of it the other day. Still not my type of story. I will say this though....the shows production quality as always is top notch and Frakes as always has done another excellent job on another Trek episode . I'm extremely happy that Frakes is still so involved with Trek and imo he is slowly becoming the face of the franchise...........

Finally saw this. It was fun but not INCREDIBLY fun.

Loved the little callbacks to previous trek (so the Nausicaans actually suck at Dom-jot!), how unprofessionally the future ensigns acted all the time, disregarding all caution, was a bit disappointing. I was kinda expecting for them to actually travel back once more to fix everything, instead apparently the very young Spock and Uhura now know they will become legends…That's quite something to live up to!

Loved the cartoon intro titles and the outro.

50 Pages. Very impressive.

This was a good episode. It's going to be one of the most memorable Trek episodes for decades to come. Well done Frakes.

I generally don't take the ratings on here seriously. We're only about 200, and I've seen this board give majority 10s to Discovery episodes, and then regret it months later.

IMDB, while still not that great, has a larger sample size of people voting in the thousands, and impressive Those Old Scientists is ranked among the Top Best-Received Nu Trek episodes;

1) Picard S3 -The Last Generation 9.4

2) Picard S3 - Vox 9.4

3) SNW S2 - Those Old Scientists 9.3 *

4) SNW S1 - A Quality of Mercy 9.1

5) Picard S3 - No Win Scenario 9.0

6) Picard S3 - Bounty 9.0

7) Picard S3 - Imposters 9.0

8) Prodigy S1 - Supernova Pt. One 8.8

9) Prodigy S1 - Supernova Pt. Two 8.8

10) Picard S3 - Surrender 8.7

As far as my own perspective on this episode? I liked it. I won't go into the specific details why, there are a few overly-sensitive types on this board that can't deal with opinions that challenge theirs.

And keep in mind, I don't watch Lower Decks and this episode was still enjoyable. It was smart to place the focus on Boimler. It gave the episode a lot of heart. Quaid elevated the material.

Share your opinions on it. I would not worry about those who are sensitive.

instead apparently the very young Spock and Uhura now know they will become legends…That's quite something to live up to!

But the Lower Decks crew going back in time is *part* of the reason - Uhura’s plot this season was about being a workaholic. The lower decks know her as a legend who got the job done but knew how to party *which they explain to her putting the idea in her head*.

The conversation with Chapel serves the same purpose - they aren’t changing anything as their actions always happened. It’s always why Brad explains that the last time the portal was active was 120 years ago - because this is a loop.
