That's a little confusing, because the only thing a post in a rating thread ought to achieve to some degree is rating the episode at hand, which this one certainly did.The OP is most welcome to an opinion, but ranting like that is hardly interesting reading, nor is it going to persuade others, or make the creators of SNW and LD do things differently.
Likewise, those of us who rated the episode a 10 are not going to convince the OP to like the episode.
It “achieves” very little.
If McCoy can get away with half the shit he said, I think Ortegas will be just fine.
Basically anyone who isn't stiff and serious with a stick up their ass like in the 90s shows is therefore automatically unprofessional and insubordinate. People don't watch Star Trek for fun characters.I do not understand this obsession with Ortegas's behavior. She's not even in the top 5 badly behaved officers
Probably because her character is underdeveloped so there isn’t much to focus on beyond the relentless quips.I do not understand this obsession with Ortegas's behavior. She's not even in the top 5 badly behaved officers
Yes I had a feeling that someone had done so in the past. It makes more sense in this episode due to Pike's 'promotion' but Kirk's Enterprise was most definitely not the flagship of the fleet. It was sent out on deep space exploration. That's not where you want your flagship to be.M'Benga called the Enterprise the flagship back in the first season.
It makes me tingle in a special place?
There.
I'm a middle-aged adult and I don't even know what a "flagship" is.

I think this has gotten better this season. She feels more balanced, but she still needs development.
I'm a fan of LD, and I had to get over that same conflict since we're told that LD is "canon". So for my own sanity, I've decided that LD is presented to the world in a wildly exaggerated way from true events. Maybe it's Mariner writing her memoirs in a funny/satirical way. That's why it's presented as a cartoon.Forget that Lower Decks is a cartoon. It's just silly. As a comedy show, one can overlook the glaring fact that nobody could ever act like Boimler and Mariner and survive. They'd have been killed in one episode.
The creator of the show has said this is the case.I've decided that LD is presented to the world in a wildly exaggerated way from true events.
Indeed. It's not meant to be taken literally. The creator of the show has said this is the case.
Ah, cool. I hadn't read that, but it certainly makes sense. The creator of the show has said this is the case.
That's how I've always seen the show from day one.I've decided that LD is presented to the world in a wildly exaggerated way from true events.
