I think the next lockbox will be Vorgon to match the summer event reward; the blog says the ship console works on "Any Vorgon ship" but including the reward there's only one such vessel.

Nope. Remember, the older summer and winter ships all have the same condition too, either "Any Risian Ship" and "Any Breen Ship". All "Any Vorgon Ship" means is that for the next 2 to 3 years, the Risian Summer Event will be releasing free Vorgon ships that contains gear meant only for Vorgon ships.

Lockboxes always have a 'lore' reason why they exist. Requirement from CBS I believe.

If they do a JJ'Verse box, the excuse will probably be the JJ'verse is highly advanced, but also similar enough to our own that their tech easily a adapted to the prime'verse tech.

Side note, for those of you who were not here during the first few years. One of the reasons non-Fed/KDF/Rom ships (also Future/alt-reality) are only in lockboxes, is because CBS wouldn't allow Cryptic to sell those ships directly out of their Cash Shop.

The Lockbox is a random chance, which means not everyone can get one.

Summer/Winter/Anniversary event ships are only available for a limited time, which is probably why they're allowed.

Been on tribble and played the AoY content available. From what it sounds like the TOS "faction" only has 6 *exclusive* missions, everything else is available to a 25th century fed. The only real reason to bother making a TOS toon is for the temporal event (which is like the delta recruit event, but more substantial).

Fine for the JJverse, but what about the STO (prime) universe?

What about it? This is Star Trek Online where you can take on a fleet of Borg/Voth/Undine/Some-other-incredibly-advanced-race alone, casually destroy time ships from 600 years in the future. It's a bit late for them to care about logic.

It's really annoying how at odds the narrative and gameplay is, but STO is essentially a themepark MMO.

Devs have said the other missions will have unique dialogue for TOS characters.

Temporal Ambassador is going to have differences for TOS characters as well.

A recent interview with a dev has revealed that TOS characters will be able to choose their own badge for their crew, they've made 90 to choose from. Though I think that might mean 30 shapes, and then the 3 divisions.

They're currently not on tribble.

Could be the Vengeance from STID, assuming they decide to have those drones it launches as carrier pets.

So for the TOS uniform they made 16 new unique assignment badges + 6 designs from the TV series. With the 5 department logos (they added a 5th, Temporal)
