STNG on Sci-Fi...what can they do differently?

I was racking my brain on how they can "re-package" the show as it airs on Sci-Fi. G4 gave us that interactive silliness, and Sci-FI had the extended TOS with wraparound hosting by Shatner and Nimoy. I kind of like the FX channels "DVD on TV" idea. STNG would have some extra features possibly taken from the DVD set, and with some new interviews or hosting. Also, they could do some news on upcoming STNG projects, including books, comics, DVD sets, or the new games.

We may have all seen the show, but STNG can still pick up some new viewers. What are your ideas??

Here's novel idea. How about running them uncut? They were originally done for 5 commercial breaks anyway. Note to SciFi Channel: Stop hacking them to pieces! We want to see the whole episode.

I'm hoping TNG is joined by all five of the other Trek series (TOS, TAS, ENT, DS9, and VOY) plus the 10 movies. While it'd be a given that some would be aired each day, I would want a weekend night in which there would be a four-hour block of Trek that would have some theme. Each week the SciFi Channel could air episodes from the shows that cover time travel, alternate universes, specific aliens (Klingons, Vulcans, Borg, Tribbles, Romulans, etc.), "fish out of water" situations, or crewmen on trial, for example. Or they could mix various shows' episodes and the movies such as using the Augments as the theme by showing ENT's Borderland, TOS's Space Seed, and TWoK, or sticking with one crew such as using the Borg as the theme and showing TNG's BoBW and FC. Or SciFi could air a pair of the movies each Saturday or Sunday night, especially as we close in on STXI. There are lots of ways to do this to keep these classics fresh for the fans.

I love that idea...Theme nights. Somehow I don't see it happening though...I doubt TPTB at SciFi would be that imaginative...

I'd rather have them just show teh episodes in order anyway... otherwise you're just going to get Trouble with Tribbles, BOBW, etc. over and over and over again.

Are they going to put up a minisite? They have one for TOS and ENT. I'd like to know the episode listings too. :)

I suppose that's possible if they scheduled episodes based on surveys of the fans. But, if they do it right, you could see four episodes from four of the series that are related. They could ask the fans to go online for open suggestions and for ones with limits; i.e: what's your favorite "fill in the blank" episode from each series? Lots of possibilities...

Theme nights are a good idea, I thin G4 did that a few times.

So it starts up next Monday...They say with fan favorites "at 7"...7AM or 7PM? Anyone know? Is it a typical 4 hour deal, or an all day affair?

Aren't they starting with an all day marathon (like they did with Enterprise yesterday) and then going to four hour blocks the next week? That's what the ads I saw implied.

Ummm....

The Trouble With Tribbles is a TOS episode. There never was a TNG tribble show.

It seems that for the first month they'll do a "the best of..." cycle.

Hopefully after that they'll get into a regular run of the series (and NOT skip the ones they showed during the first month...GRRRRRR).
