Still not clear about GI Joe's affiliation...

Vice Admiral
Are they American or International?

I don't think I've seen that cleared up yet, but if the filming indicates anything I think they will be American but I'm not certain. The Pit is located in the US but that doesn't mean anything.

it isn't clear. some rreports are claiming international, others American. they've cast a British-African as Heavy Duty and a French-Morrocan as Breaker and a Czech as Cover Girl, but until a trailer comes out and we hear their accents, they could be American or international.

NATO is involved to some extent though, because Larry Hama has a cameo as a NATO general...

The New World Order. I guess they have to drop the Real American Hero thing since Europeans hate Americans.

Oh for fuck's sake. Where do people think the expression came from??? What do they think "G.I." stands for?
Why not ask if the "Star Spangled Banner" refers to the US flag?

I mean, the entire raison d'etre for the expression is to identify an American soldier.

WWII was not that long ago, people.

General Issue, actually. The point is that it's a uniquely American reference - to identify Americans.

See, for instance, http://www.amazon.com/Story-G-I-Joe-Burgess-Meredith/dp/B00004STJA

No wonder American combat troops in those years started calling themselves "G.I. Joe." Reporters passed the term back home as a charming bit of sentimentality; they didn't know, or chose to ignore, that it was really a despairing joke -- "G.I." for "general issue," a mass-produced unit of basic military hardware. The soldiers knew the score: for all the halos of glory they were being heaped with in the press, they were nothing more than anonymous, interchangeable items in the limitless inventory of the war.

GI JOE: Real American Hero... yes the cmovie is comming out:rolleyes: (god save us all) and American isn't politically correct since its aimed for a Global fan bas eso its now International Hero.

GI Joe was an American thing, there are simmilar groups in Europe and Russia, and some Joes like Big ben are from England and ect.

This is GI Joe. Not those lame superhero/superspy wannabes .
