STID: The ‘Other' Starship / [Spoiler]

I've noticed in the 3rd trailer when you see the USS enterprise taking hits off the Vengence (very cool ship name by the way) I'm sure you see some torps hitting the E and then them round ball projectiles going past the enterprise ?? I noticed it when I saw the trailer and seeing the Vengence with them round shaped pods both next to the main deflector !!!! Anyone else seen this ???

Here's the pic you see some torps hit the E then these round projectiles go past the E in between the naccelles and primary saucer

Anyone willing to do a scale estimate on the size of this thing? (to prove it's about 800m long? )
When it crashes in the trailers, that saucer is enourmous.

It looks one deck thick at the rim, about ten in the centre hollow. Windows the same size as those on the Enterprise saucer rim and bridge. If the OP is right (and the scene where it drops put of warp backs this up), it's twice the size of the Enterprise - 1450 metres long.

Riiiight......

Maybe it's a sign I grew up playing too much tetris but doesn't the hole in the middle of this impressive vessel look like it'd match the ship kirk is seen piloting through the impossibly tight gap in the trailers?

And since the Enterprise is so much bigger in this timeline... she's a BIG girl. The original Enterprise could probably dock inside that saucer!

W00t that's a big ship King Daniel...

I love it.

So we have the usual brigade flogging the dead horse again over the size of the NuEnterprise, I had hoped we were past that now. I always felt that the TOS Enterprise was rather small to be going off on 5 year missions.

With all the time incursions that have occurred in both the films and TV series it stands to reason that technology will have benefitted and that circumstances and ship design/size will also be different.

That's the beauty of a reboot as it allows the writers and designers to move past the limitations of what went before.

It has been said in this thread already by Bryce that the new films could be based off the ending of First Contact and the more time that passes since that event the greater the changes will be.

I cant say I blame Starfleet for building the Vengeance after the Narada appeared and splatted an entire fleet (then losing Vulcan), events like that have a huge impact on ship design and the direction of policy towards exploration.

In any military you will have the hawks (heavily armed defense) and the doves (pure exploration focus), with all that has happened with the Narada and Vulcan it is reasonable to expect that the hawks won the argument and the result is the Vengeance.

I would have no problem with the NuEnterprise being destroyed and then Kirk being given the Vengeance after having it renamed (won't happen of course) best we can expect is a refit of the NuEnterprise at the end of the film.

Handles along the corridor, like something could hit this ship with enough force to knock people off balance?

And that phaser she's carrying, NOT Canon!!1

I think if a Borg Cube rammed it a warp 9.9, it may wobble. Just a little bit.

And then, in a secret sub-basement under Starfleet HQ, a Starship designer points at a co-worker and goes, "See? I told you those handles were worth it!"

Borg better be careful fucking with Starfleet in this timeline.
