Sticking with a site, e.g., this one

You are the smart people. I spent an eternity's pit of time in the Official forums of WoW hahaha

I swear every thread I posted in ended up deleted. I am not big on staying on topic..

My threads ended in ruin on WoW's forums but not deleted to my knowledge.

Yay! I found it. :bolian:

Are you Gilda? omg..

I was once banned from there for defending furries. Thankfully I wasn't banned from the game itself

Ugh, the pull of Azeroth.. and you know that is what kept me away from Trekbbs for like 10 months. But I won't make that mistake again, better conversation here than the Barrens heh.

I'm in Guild Wars 2 now anyway. No sub fee, looks great. BEAUTIFUL WOMEN TayLa, many beautiful women..

I am on Blackhand & maybe another realms. :)

I am waiting for Warlords Of Draenor. I want updates on character models + other stuff. ETA: Before I get back in.

I wanted to try GW2 but cannot buy it now.

ADD: ArcheAge & Black Gold look cool. :) My cousin wants me to try WildStar. I was interested in Elder Scrolls Online.

They just had a half price sale on GW2 :(

I don't know, when I think about playing WoW again I get exhausted. It's annoying getting to the top and xpac comes, start all over again. And the nerfing. But I miss my main, I LOVE HER.

I keep hearing about Wildstar. I can only handle one at a time though.

It isn't a game but I have got my money's worth out of Second Life. I love shopping and it cost less. LOL!

I haven't participated in anything online as long as I have TrekBBS (May 2001). I took a hiatus during the TerranBBS exodus in the early Naughties, but I meandered back eventually.

In the early days, I was much more invested in the relationships and people here. Now I just use it kind of like Facebook and burp out a status once in a while and see if anyone responds. LOL

I joined this site in 2005 and another Air Warriors Forum in 2006. I have taken a break from here for over a year and have come back. As for Air Warriors, I left 2 years ago when several of us were banished for thinking outside the box. We started another site and it thrives while AW is struggling to survive. :)

I've felt for a while like I spend waaaay too much of my life online, so I've been trying to narrow down the sites I visit. I haven't had anything to say here in a while, but I still find myself lurking. So, I suppose that says something about this place. Or me. Or both. I've been here since July of 2002 in some form or another.

Hi, anyone who actually remembers me! :D

Goji, awesome avatar! I love both Bill & Ted movies, but I thought that the second one was actually better than the first.

I've been members of a few other message boards besides this one, but none had the community that I see here. Too many message boards are filled with snarky, sarcastic people who care more about outspoken opinions than having an actual discussion.

So far I've had no probs with GW2,
Not to be 'that guy', but I'm sure that will be true right up until the day when NCSoft decides to pull the plug on the game - even if it is still running profitably - because it no longer fits their notion of the kind of games they think they ought to be making (whatever the heck that means to them - apparently has nothing to do with fun OR profit).

I might be a bitter, disgruntled former City of Heroes player. Maybe. ;)

I've been here since 2004, according to my stats. It's hard to believe I've been around for ten years! :) I lurk a lot but try to post some every couple of days or so.

eh, then I'll play another game. I don't expect any MMO to run forever, or if it does it will have likely mutated so many times I get jack of it. I'm pretty sure you can still play the original Guild Wars.

In early 2001 I searched for "future of Trek" and ended up here, but did not actually join 'til 2006. Stayed for the intense conversation and general all-round depth of knowledge.

I also go to ReNext, the SFX magazine forum, and a couple of history ones. Too much time these days is sucked up by reddit, a place both fascinating and terribly dark.

So, do you have sites you have been visiting for years? Do you visit because of the content or the people? Have you also changed the way you participate (similarly to me preferring different forums of this board)?

I tend to stick with sites for a few years at a stretch before moving on, usually because my interests and circumstances change. There are a few exceptions, though: I was a longtime participant at a conlanging board that evolved from a mailing list, reduced my participation in later years gradually as the population skewed more obnoxious and less interesting, and then finally (reluctantly) gave up and left altogether when it became inescapably clear that a crazy person had been given moderating powers. And there are a couple of political and philosophical blogs whose readership and community I've been part of for an absurd number of years now, one of them almost as old as TrekBBS. Most of what keeps me coming back to those are the people, for sure, and although I rarely post on either of them these days I still read regularly.

I checked it out the other day to see if things had changed since I first looked at it years ago. It has become way, way creepier now. Don't type in Second Life and look at Google or Bing images. Trust me on that one. It was a complete accident, but I'm horrified/glad I did.
