Sticking with a site, e.g., this one

The forum or website I've been visiting most is the Civilization Fanatics Forums. I've been a member there since 2003, and like here read there daily even if I don't post a lot. It helps that it has a global audience with a lot of different viewpoints, and the people there discuss issues of interest to me -- history, economics, politics, and philosophy. I started there when I bought Civilization III back in the day.

TrekBBS I think I found after watching Trekkies and wanting to connect to other Trek fans. I was envious. What's kept me around the longest is actually the caption contests. There was a point when we had them going for every show, both movie forums, AND the TrekLit forum (somehow). I didn't realize I've been here since 2005; I'm coming up on ten years!
Other than my local Freecycle, CivFanatics is also my oldest and longest-running internet home.

I lurked here at TrekBBS for awhile before joining, and there were a couple of extended absences. It's never been boring, though. :)

16 years with st.com--till I got banned under CBS/Funny Garbage in '11 for telling off the site CBS/FG admins. 11 years here. Honestly, I never really thought about how long I stay at a particular site. If I like a place, I tend to stay so long as it's fun.

This is the only one I've consistently come back to. I take the occasional hiatus but always manage to come back to. Or at least do a routine log in

Same. The only other site that I have been with for a long time is Facebook, and that's only since 2009. I've been here since 2003.

Ugh, why don't we have an "old man" smilie?

This was the first online community I joined - in 2000 :borg: - and it's the only one (other than LJ, which I joined four years later) that I've stuck with or that has held any sort of long-term appeal for me. Every other board I joined was boring, cliquish, inactive, didn't keep my attention (or some combination of those) or ceased to exist. Other than a handful of news sites this and LJ are the sites I've been visiting the longest.

I joined up here to discuss Trek and Babylon 5 and have stayed for (a number of) the people I've met here, either virtually or in so-called "real" life. Having said that, if I hadn't discovered the lounges I doubt I'd still be here. :D

Been here since early 2002. It's a long time. Now it's mainly to hang out with friends. Don't talk about trek much anymore. Now it's only facebook and here, as all other sites I no longer post at, or look at.

I'm a member since 2004 and this board is pretty much one of my main sites because it covers most of my interests.

I came for Star Trek but stayed for the variety of areas that are discussed here. It broadened my horizon considerably and especially TNZ made me a US politics expert as far as my friends are concerned (they also call this board my "american friends" board ).

I visit here multiple times a day when i have time, read up on some stuff and enjoy TNZ the most (i would just prefer more sane and intelligent conservative posters there with whom a good discussion would be possible).

There hasn't been many sites I've stuck with though there has been many sites that has intrigued me like this one. In two days, I would have passed the one year mark.

We don't because your creep factor radiates enough without it.

I've stuck to guild forums from WoW. At first for one then another when I changed faction from Alliance to Horde. I visited them to write stories, read stories, keep myself updated on guild RP etc. In my first guild forum I didn't visit for anything other than writing and reading stories or showing and looking at drawings. In the second one I started caring about the people.

I visit a very friendly dog forum several times a week, and have done so for a year now. I visit this forum for the dog pictures, dog stories and advice.

I also visit a budgie forum, for pictures and videos.

And finally, there is this forum where i mostly read interesting discussions and funny stories. I also like lurking in the misc thread. There are a lot of smart, interesting and funny people on here, but i mostly come here for the Trek discussions and pictures of cool things.

Exactly my story as well. :)

I joined this site in early 2008, after learning of a new Trek movie. I stayed for the coffee and doughnuts. I've made a few friends, which is as important to me as Trek. It is the only board to which I have belonged.

I found this site looking for information on Enterprise and immediately discovered there are people who will watch every episode of a TV show they hate for years on end just to complain about it seven days a week on the internet. :wtf:

Still here for some of the people I chat with, even though a lot have stopped logging in over the years, like Jetfire, Daneel and Jack Bauer. :(

Holy crap, 11 years for me. I came here from Usenet, and these days I spend far more days on Twitter.

Same here.

You are the smart people. I spent an eternity's pit of time in the Official forums of WoW hahaha

I swear every thread I posted in ended up deleted. I am not big on staying on topic..

My threads ended in ruin on WoW's forums but not deleted to my knowledge.

Yay! I found it. :bolian:

Are you Gilda? omg..

I was once banned from there for defending furries. Thankfully I wasn't banned from the game itself

Ugh, the pull of Azeroth.. and you know that is what kept me away from Trekbbs for like 10 months. But I won't make that mistake again, better conversation here than the Barrens heh.

I'm in Guild Wars 2 now anyway. No sub fee, looks great. BEAUTIFUL WOMEN TayLa, many beautiful women..
