Steve Jobs Has Died

Steve Jobs said:
Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma — which is living with the results of other people’s thinking. Don’t let the noise of others’ opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.
Words to live by indeed, and yet sadly so easily forgotten as we get caught up in day-to-day mundanity. In each of our lives there are moments when these words are truly poignant.

Here's to you, Steve.

He must have known he was going to die soon, which is why he retired suddenly a few weeks ago.

He knew for quite a while, his retirement was anything but sudden and rumors of his poor health have been around for years.

Sad to see him finally succumb though.

A candle which burns twice as bright, burns half as long, and Steve Jobs burnt very brightly indeed.

RIP.

Never met Jobs in person, but I did attend one of those Apple product announcements some years back and you could tell he had a certain charisma and drive. I remember my first visits to Apple HQ and hearing about "The Steve" in terms both awestruck and sometimes a bit fearful.

RIP Steve. I've always been platform-agnostic. I use Microsoft's .NET tools for web development, and I use Final Cut Pro and Logic for video and music. Everything that Microsoft has become is a direct result of competition with Apple over the years. Steve always had the vision and set the expectations, and the whole industry moved with him. He was the first to effectively see the computer as more than just a business appliance, but a portal into creativity. I shudder to think what the technology world would be without his influence.

I've had all day to think and digest Steve Jobs' death, and I have to say that the world has lost a truly visionary person. I haven't been this affected by someone's death in a long time. The fact that I have a Zune is because you created the iPod. Truly, RIP, Steve Jobs.

Where ever your soul is now, Steve Jobs, I hope it's at peace. Back on Earth, I hope your legacy in technological innovation is picked up and carried forward for generations to come.

It seems he couldn't survive the disappointment of iPhone 4S... Cant really blame him...

Regardless of my personal opinion of his company, Steve Jobs was a visionary and a genius. He will be remembered as a pioneer in IT for decades, if not centuries to come.

RIP

I make a point out of not having an iPod or iPhone, or any mac product. I think it's too much money for what you get.

That being said, that's his company. The man himself was a visionary and died far too young. Rest in peace, Mr Jobs.

Same age my Dad went. Terrible when there's so much left you might've gone on to acheive. The guy clearly enjoyed what he did, and kept on going because he had found his calling.

"Three Apples changed the World, one seduced Eve, one fell on Newton and the third was offered to the World half bitten by Steve Jobs."
