Steve Jobs Has Died

Not news that's going to shock anyone I think - he's looked awfully unwell for a while now - but I hope the end was painless and he rests in peace.

From the Apple website:

Apple has lost a visionary and creative genius, and the world has lost an amazing human being. Those of us who have been fortunate enough to know and work with Steve have lost a dear friend and an inspiring mentor. Steve leaves behind a company that only he could have built, and his spirit will forever be the foundation of Apple.

I was using my iPod Touch when I heard the news. :(

I'm really glad he was able to resign on his own terms when he did, instead of passing away "on the job" as it were.

RIP Mr. Jobs and thank you for your revolutionary work. :(

Wow. An innovative and intelligent man has now passed on.
What a legacy he leaves, though.

May he rest in peace. :(

Sad to hear. I have only been using Apple products in the last 2 years and while I disagree with the direction they're heading in some areas, Steve did a great job steering them away from collapse at the start of last decade.

RIP.

He had a questionable reputation, but there's no denying that he was a giant in the computer industry. He has probably affected all our lives in some way, even those of us that have never bought his products. I'm not a fan of his company, but his legacy is certainly deserving of my respect.

I don't really use any Apple products myself, but one cannot deny the impact that this man's life has had on technology. Rest in peace.

Yikes. I knew he was sick, but that still seems pretty sudden. Way too young.

Ditto that. I just logged on a few minutes ago, and it was plastered all over the Yahoo! home page.

His impact on our society will long be remembered. RIP, Steve.

EDIT: in reply to TheGodBen^ I agree, while I only own an Ipod and never intend to buy another Apple product other than maybe a replacement Ipod, Mr Jobs' innovative skills can't be denied. Rip Mr Jobs, I wish your family well!

The homepage of Apple...a day over a big product unveil.
