Sternbach runabout concept

Very cool. Does the ladder extend from the side of the ship and then swing down to the ground?

Indeed it does.

Given the apparent length of the ladder, you might want to give it two or three telescoping sections. In its current form, depending on how you model the interior, the ladder "bay" might reduce the amount of habitable space within the ship. Maybe.

What software are you using, and what modeling techniques are you using? Just curious.

Great updates! The ship is coming along very nicely.

I still can't seem to adjust to the added warp engines, though... I know I'll get flak for saying that, but it's just the way I feel... they also look a bit too small and slender for a Runabout of this size.

Don't take that the wrong way... like I said, I love this ship, and you're doing a grand job with her.

Really looking nice, biotech! The smoothing of the fins has really made a difference, although I'm not so sure about that side ramp's practicality ;).

Can't wait to see this done and textured.

Faltorpan, I am using 3D Max, and box modeling.

BA, if Mr Sternbach thinks the nacelles are the right size, I would trust his judgement on the matter.

Thanks Ptrope, who knows what kind of exotic non slip black cushiony stuff that ramp is made of?

That actually turned out pretty cool. Now lets see the firepower (this thing's gotta have some phasers, right?).

It kinda looks like a classic Cadillac, could almost be a convertible.

There's a phaser on each wingtip, I might see if theres some room underneath for a pair of micro photon torpedo launchers.

This thing is really coming together nicely. I can't wait to see the finished product!

Your work is incredible.
Just a thought. How do you secure large equipment? Tie downs, reverse tractor beams?

I'm very much digging this model, biotech!

This iteration of the runabout had a lot of obvious visual ties to the flying butter dish Galileo shuttlecraft... it's a shame that the producers went in a different direction for DS9.

Pretty, but you know what my first thought was? It reminded me of the Doc's office from Voy. Don't know why...? I like it though. It's really looking like it belongs in the TNG era.
