Sternbach runabout concept

Based on one of Rick's early concepts for the DS9 runabout, I always wanted to make this one in 3D.

And today I started on it.

It might not exactly match up as theres only one three quarters image to work from, so its hard to gauge some of the dimensions, and whats on the sides we cant see is only guesswork.

Cool! What a promising start. I wish they'd gone further in that direction rather than the hypertrophic shuttlecraft they eventually went with.

Yeah, it was harder to think of the runabouts as tiny ships (what they were supposed to be) since they looked more like big shuttles.

Anyway, looking good!

Which is funny, as they went in the hypertrophic direction specifically to avoid that comparison.

My guess is that you've mirrored a feature that, itself, was a mirror of something else... most 3D programs "barf" when you start doing that, in my experience.

Love it! I would love to see some renderings of the pre-final Voyager (the one with the runabout nacelle struts...), with some possible specs.
