Stephen King's The Stand Series Might Head To CBS All Access

He looks like a guy in shape in his 40s - the difference will be clear when they have scenes together...

As far as the original miniseries coming to Blu Ray, that's pretty cool, but, I mean, will it be significantly better than the DVD in terms of...well, anything? I doubt they're going to do a new commentary track, for instance, and I suspect it was never shot for HD.
The Stand was primarily filmed on 16mm, so unless they royally screw this release up it will look much better than the old transfer, which is unsurprisingly a very video-era transfer.

I'm looking at current pictures of him and he can easily pass for 30s. And that's him on the street, not with make-up, lighting and (if necessary) digital tricks.

Well, I like the sound of that, though I have to admit that the last time I watched the miniseries it didn't hold up as well for me as I was expecting. :/ I'd kind of like them to redo the Flagg effects in particular as possibly low-hanging fruit, though that's almost certainly outside the scope of this effort. There's other things that just feel very "tv" for me, but that's more a consequence of the miniseries being what it is, I think.

The first and last episodes, IMO, still for the most part hold up really well. It's the middle two where things are a bit shakier.

Randall Flagg will be played by Alexander Skarsgard.

Those Skarsgards really love being Stephen King villains!

Also announced Jovan Adepo (The Leftovers) as Larry Underwood, Owen Teague (Bloodline) as Harold Lauder, Brad William Henke (Orange Is the New Black) as Tom Cullen, and Daniel Sunjata (Rescue Me) as Cobb.

Whoopi Goldberg confirmed Collider’s earlier scoop that she will play Mother Abagail.

Whoopi debuted her new hair for the role on The View today and talked about the importance of her physical appearance in the role.

Vanity Fair published an extensive article about the mini-series, along with images from the series. The article details how the mini-series does and does not relate with the current crisis as well as how it diverts from the book (and the 1994 mini-series).

It's certainly going to be interesting to see how it compares to the earlier miniseries.

I looked up the Blu ray release of said earlier miniseries, and reviews were...not all I was hoping for in terms of quality upgrades.

The full trailer is out:

I haven't read the book, so I can't judge it as an adaptation, but coming to it as a novice, it looks really good to me. Might be the first non-Star Trek CBS All Access Original, I watch.
