Well, Saville was never brought to justice, and Stuart Hall actually confessed... most of the other 'older' ones are being found not guilty - Bill Roache etc and there's a real question mark on whether they should've even been pursued through the courts.

Because there are actually numbers to prove about the priests. The church has papers dealing with the large numbers.
I was also making two jokes poking fun at priests and an idiotic baseless claim by someone here that Bryan Fuller (Or was it Signer?) is a child rapist because he is gay.
But in reality the number is that the ones most likely to abuse children are related to the child.

Those are two completely different issues.
People aren't gay because it's easier to predate on children, they're gay because that's what they were. But we *know* that some men *did* become priests because it provided easy access to children. And we *know* that when the Church learned of such incidents, they often shipped the priests off to new areas, cleansing their reputations and allowing for more abuse to occur.
See the difference?
I never claimed they were the same issue, I said they were both absurd assumptions, and prejudice. Engaging in either is pretty bad form in the same post as complaining about baseless assumptions, and prejudice.

It's only a small percentage of priests who were molesting children. Just, if priests get caught they can feel secure that they will be quietly transferred to another diocese.
Personally I do believe in redemption if one honestly repents and accepts the consequences, but it sounds like Collins was bragging about it.
But you also shouldn't jump to the pitchfork stage solely based on anecdotal accusation. It's been proven that children's reported memories aren't inherently reliable, and in some cases in the past people have been falsely convicted because children were asked leading questions and they responded according to pleasing an authority figure.

He's a celebrity, so we will never know the full extent of what he did or did not do. As soon as it was announced that he had done anything like what is described in the tape, mercenary people intent on cashing in on the situation began formulating their lies. At the same time, there could be women who were legitimately victims who decided that now is the time to come forward. Just like men who are still coming forward to try to claim a share of the Jackson estate, who just haven't had the nerve to speak up until now. Well, maybe, maybe not.
